The Year In The Rearview Mirror πŸ€

Hello my lovely friends 😍

So, we’re getting ready to wave goodbye to 2020. πŸ‘‹πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ₯‚

And I’m pretty sure that most, if not all of us, love to see it behind us. πŸ™ƒ

There were a lot of ups and downs. But since I don’t have pictures of the ‘downs’, πŸ˜‰ and I don’t wanna bring anyone ‘down’ (see what I did there πŸ˜‹), I’m gonna share with you some pretty pictures of the past year. πŸ’–

I hope you enjoy the show 😊

The Missouri River on a cold January morning…

In February I picked up my pencils again…

March brought the first signs of Spring …

In April we took a lot of long walks, and sometimes I even brought my camera πŸ˜„

Same in May 😎

In June I got out all my vintage cookbooks, and gave them the spotlight they deserve!

And went on more walks…

In July I started training my future Yoga partner 😍 and…well, you know πŸ˜…

In August we witnessed some baby birds getting ready to leave the nest and explore this strange, new world – right from our porch 😊

In September we painted the house…and I got my purple door 😌

In October I voted for the first time since becoming a citizen in 2019 πŸ€“πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

In November I made this unique Advent wreath πŸ•―

December brought some beautiful days with sunshine and balmy temperatures – sprinkled among the icy, freezer-like temps. But we don’t wanna talk about those 😁

This was my year in pretty pictures. Thank you for stopping by and looking! πŸ₯° I hope you enjoyed them all (or at least most of them!) ☺️

All that’s left now is me wishing you a wonderful, healthy, pleasant 2021!

Be well! πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸ₯‚

May Photo-a-Day Challenge πŸ“Έ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

One of the CitySonnet photo-a-day challenge prompts is ‘weathered’. I knew exactly what I wanted to show-and-tell for that one.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a historic, ‘weathered’ little church. It’s out in the country, off on a little side road. It’s almost 100 years old, with a little graveyard in the front. Some research showed that it was awarded a grant for restauration from the Kansas Historic Fund. Yay 😍 And they didn’t waste any time restoring this little gem. Because when I went back (finally remembering to bring my camera πŸ˜‹) people and machines were hard at work, reversing the decay. Great for the little church in the prairie, but the yellow and blue machinery kinda ruined the photo – shoot. πŸ˜‰

So I turned to this amazing tree that greets me every day at the beginning of my walk. He guards the start of a trail along a creek through downtown Leavenworth. We call him the ‘Hulk’ tree, ’cause it looks like he’s bursting out of his bark. 😎

To see just how majestic this tree is, check out my itty-bitty friend in the bottom right corner πŸ˜„πŸ’œπŸŒ³

Thanks for reading❣️ Be safe!

❄️A ❄️ Picture ❄️ Perfect ❄️ Morning β„️

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

For days now the weather guy has warned us of the ‘Winter storm’ headed this way.

Well, when I took the dogs out last night, there wasn’t much of anything…even the grass still peeked through a light dusting. But when I went outside this morning, everything had changed. I was greeted by this view…

The owl is wearing a hat…

…and our ‘Welcome’ bear a mask – I wonder what he’s up to πŸ˜‹

The neighborhood kids got busy πŸ˜ƒ

For me there are not many things more beautiful than a snow-covered Pine Tree

I don’t think Pearl, the cat, cares 😁

The Wisteria branches are a work of art 😍

Now I shut up, and let you enjoy the scenery 😊

(There’s nothing wrong with your eyes – it was early, and still somewhat dark-ish πŸ™‚)

I hope you enjoyed the stroll through our Winter Wonderland πŸ’œ

I wish you a wonderful weekend! πŸ’•

Looking back…and forward πŸ˜Š

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•
I hope this finds you well! Did you have a nice holiday season? πŸŽ„β›„οΈ
I wish you a very happy and successful 2019! May it be as fabulous as you are 😍

You may have noticed that I took a little break on here.
Note to self: Don’t do that again! πŸ™ˆ It’s really hard to find the way back – even though I enjoy it immensely. Finding a perfect re-starting point…well, didn’t happen.
So I’m just gonna tell/show you what I’ve been up to over the last few weeks. 😁

I did a few craft shows – here’s a picture of the very last one. It was at my friend Donna’s house. She makes the most amazing canned goods, and was so sweet to host a ‘Maker’s Market’ at her house. 😊

In between shows I was busy creating new pretties for the next one.

In December we had some friends over for a wonderful ‘Holiday Party’. πŸ˜πŸŽ„πŸ₯³
I made a German/Hungarian Beef Stew.  Judging by the empty bowls… it was delicious.🀩

One of my goals for the coming year is to take my camera with me more, and show you some pictures from around here. We’re off to a great beginning – here are my two favorites from the first outing.

Sycamores  – I love them! 😍

Some em….pretty things (if you know what they’re called, please let me know) 😊

I made my first felted hat!
At this point hubby really doubted that I knew what I was doing πŸ˜‚

But – it turned out well  πŸ˜ƒ More on that later.

Oh…one more blogging goal….I wanna learn (and share) about all the amazing art out there. I’m thinking a ‘Weekly Gallery’  πŸž What are your thoughts on that?

Before you leave – here’s the first hat of 2019. It’s a Pixie πŸ§šπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Hat to symbolize the hope for a magical new year 🀩

Alright my friends – this was it in a nutshell. It’s good to be back! πŸ€—
I hope to see you again soon. πŸ’•

Will You Take A Walk With Me? πŸ˜ŽπŸπŸŒ³

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

Lansing, KS is not your typical pretty ‘Small-Town-America’. But in the Fall it turns into a canvas for Mother Nature most beautiful work. 😍

It’s a sunny, crisp morning, so I took my camera with me on my daily walk.

Here are some pictures of the delightful sights I’m lucky enough to see every day 😊

Straight out the door stands this beauty

These pictures speak for themselves

There’s a little frost on the ground

As the sun went higher, more and more colors came to life

The little creek was really flowing after the rains two weeks ago. Now…not so much

Sunshine and a little green fairy πŸ§šπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

This one made me chuckle πŸ˜„

I hope you enjoyed our little stroll 🍁

Do you have a lot of Fall colors in your neck of the woods? Let me know…I’d love to hear/see what’s outside your door! πŸ’•

Playing With Yarn & Colors ~ A Freeform Collage

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

Are you enjoying the brilliant colors Mother Nature uses to paint the trees around us this time of year?

Every morning, while walking the dogs, I see more and more patches of reds and yellows pop up 😍

And some wonderful people have been sharing their Fall pictures on Facebook

Glorious…isn’t it?! I wanna jump right in! Don’t you? 😁

Seeing all these photos sparked an idea = Freeform Collage!

I’ve been trying my hand at Freeform Crochet Scrumbles, and am loving it!

So I got all my Fall-Color yarn out and went to town…no plan, just a picture in my mind.

Luckily I had the perfect yarn in my stash. πŸ˜ƒ

Like this one here – Fall colors in a skein…

And this beautiful handspun wool

And of course many more, but these two really stand out. πŸ™‚

And inch by inch it grew

Glorious Autumn – A Freeform Collage

It’s so much fun to play with the colors and different stitches.

Please watch for updates, and see the lake, sky, and more trees appear πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ

Do you think Freeform is for you? You should try it sometime – once in a while it’s good to let the crazy child inside you create πŸ™ƒ

Have fun! πŸ’•

I Miss Puddles β˜”️

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•I’ve always loved rainy days! The sound of rain against the window, the racing clouds, the smell of the air and wet asphalt. 😊 How about you? Do you feel the same or are you more of a ‘heat and sunshine’ person? Since it’s been a while since I got to enjoy the beautiful moisture from above, I took to the web, and found this… πŸ˜ƒRainyMood.com – It is an app, but this website gives you a preview πŸ˜Šβ˜”οΈπŸŒ§πŸ’œπŸŒ§β˜”οΈπŸ’œβ˜”οΈπŸŒ§πŸ’œπŸŒ§β˜”οΈπŸ’œβ˜”οΈπŸŒ§πŸ’œπŸŒ§β˜”οΈπŸ’œβ˜”οΈπŸŒ§πŸ’œπŸŒ§β˜”οΈπŸ’œβ˜”οΈA (somewhat) Heart-shaped puddle I captured last year After a rainstorm last fall…don’t you love the tree reflection in the water? 😍This is from a couple of years ago…during my ‘drawing phase’. See, rain-themed 😁Maybe I’ll go now and try a rain dance! πŸ˜†I wish you a fabulous weekend, and hope you get to do things you love! πŸ’•

Trees & Shadows ~ The Sun Is Out πŸ˜Ž

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

If you stand on your tippy-toes you can see the weekend from here πŸ˜ƒ And just in time the sun decided to join us!

Everyone is squinting and blinking – it’s been a while since it was this bright outside 🌞

But you’re not here for the Kansas weather report…so I get to the ‘Trees & Shadows‘ that brought you here 😊

When I took the dogs outside, I noticed that the sun was in the perfect position for this beautiful image

Mother Nature really painted a beautiful picture here 😍

I snapped a few more photos, but the first one really is my favorite!

And I noticed the first sign of Spring

The Maple tree is budding a few weeks earlier than last year…I hope that’s a good sign 😊 and that she knows what she’s doing. Not like these poor things πŸ˜‚

I hope you have a fabulous weekend! 😎🌞🌷

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the short trip into our backyard πŸ’•

Pine Cone Arrangements ~ Bringing Autumn Gatherings Into Your Home πŸ

Hello my lovely friends  πŸ’• A big part of this might sound familiar to some of you – I did post this idea last year – but a lot of you weren’t here then 😊 and if you were, you might like a little reminder  πŸ˜Š

How would you like to combine a Nature Walk

with a crafty activity afterwards? 😍
Sound good? Well then…keep reading πŸ€“

But first – this

She’s just so cute…you’ll probably see her a lot here 😊

Alright…let’s get walking and crafting

I start with collecting pine cones on my morning walk  – these beauties are along the way, and greet me every day with a lovely scent

So if you see two women crawling around under the pine trees…with 3 dogs watching…that’s my friend Carole and me collecting pine cones 😁

Once home I clean them in a water/vinegar mixture – gotta get rid of the bugs πŸ˜–

After their ‘bath’ you wanna bake them in the oven at 200 degrees…for about an hour to get rid of the bugs that learned to breathe under water πŸ˜‹

While they bake you can gather the rest of the necessary things. Here’s what you need …

~a glass vase

 ~Potpourri

 ~decorative glass gems

~1. Start by filling the vase with the gems – about 2″ high.

~2. Then add the pine cones and the Potpourri in layers.

I started with some Potpourri, set a pine cone on top – against the side of the vase, added more Potpourri, a cone on the other side, and so on.

~3. When you work your layers, make sure you have 2 or 3 pine cones left over – sticking out at the top they’ll give your arrangement the pretty ‘fall-y’ touch.

There…isn’t that pretty 😍

I’ve used the glass cylinders for a few different arrangements

For hubby’s man-cave 🎱

This one sits in the powder room πŸ™‚

My ‘Mickey Mouse’ cactus watches me create new patterns πŸ˜€

This one here is my favorite 😍

And of course…one more for the studio πŸ’œ

I hope I triggered your creativity….let me know which arrangement is your favorite/ you decided on making for yourself ☺️

Sending Love ❀️ Smiles πŸ™‚ and Hugs πŸ€— your way!

September ~ Morning πŸπŸŒžπŸ‚

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Happy 1st day of September! πŸ˜ƒ

The ~ber months are finally here πŸ˜ƒ and September is my favorite one. πŸ’œ The summer heat with it’s humidity is finally behind us, some leaves have already changed color 😊, and the days of comfort food and warm (aka crocheted πŸ˜‰) are close.

While walking the dogs this morning we saw some fallen red leaves and acorns  πŸ™‚

I found this sweet poem that describes the autumn feeling perfectly 😊

September
Breathe in
the sweet crisp breeze

that laces the winds

and shakes the seasons

into sunkissed leaves

that sweep the city

like confetti celebrating the

arrival of the wedding of winter

before daylight exhales

and succumbs to bathe

under the beauty of moonlight.

Hush.

It really was a perfect day 😍 The morning was cool, the sun was out hubby was able to take the day off.

So we visited a nearby lake. Until now I had only heard about it, saw the signs along the highway. And honestly, now that we finally made it there, I can’t believe we’ve been living here for almost 10 years and never went. It’s twenty (20!) minutes from our house! 😳

But see for yourself…

The entrance to the park ⬆️ It’s a bit of a mystery – but quite pretty πŸ™‚

The marina is right by the parking lot

The pirates are already here ☠️

Water Lilies 😍 Yes, they really were that pink πŸ’–

Here’s hubby and his white legs πŸ˜‚ admiring the scenery

This poor tree took quite a hit during a lightning storm πŸ˜•

πŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ„πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸπŸƒ

My legs aren’t quite as white, gotta work on that ‘photo smile’ though 😜

πŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ„πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒπŸπŸƒπŸ‚

More Water Lilies

Beautiful scenery 😍

And some murky underwater life

This marks the end of our tour πŸ€“ Thanks for coming along πŸ€— I hope you enjoyed it.

Have a gorgeous and lovely Autumn 🍁
