Just A Few Random Things 🦄

Hello my lovely friends    💕  It’s been a minute or two, hasn’t it? Actually – almost a week 😳 Oh my! I’ve been a bit under the weather all week 🤒 so it’s not been the most productive one. But…I’m back 🤗 and really glad you are too!

Today I just wanna show you a few random things I’ve thought about this past week…just to get back into the swing of it all. 😁

1. A few months ago I bought some succulents, and on the way home a few of the leaves broke fell off. Luckily I had just read an article about ‘Propagading Succulents’ 😃 So I thought I give it a try. And guess what? It worked! 😎 See….

Well, I guess I don’t have a picture from the beginning – this is about 3 weeks in 😊 It did slow down some after the initial ‘growth spurt’

But they are coming along nicely 😍

2. While searching for the ‘Wildflower’ poem last week – you might remember – I came across these lovely words from Rustine Hamlett  💜

This makes me smile every time…

 I Tried To Write A Poem…

i tried to write a poem
a poem just for You
but when i sought to find the words
like hummingbirds, they flew!

i tried to bake some cookies
a dozen, just for You
but before they hit the oven
we’d shared the yummy goo

i tried to paint a picture
a picture just for You
but the colors all ran out of line
like sunlight through the dew

i tried to plant a garden
wildflowers, just for You
but when i’d tilled and sown the soil
too tall for me they grew!

i tried to find a treasure
a treasure just for You
but when i looked inside the chest
i found a gift from You

i tried to tell a story
a mystery, just for You
but when i lost the villain’s trail
’twas You who found the clue

i tried to catch some fireflies
green starlight, just for You
but you smiled, and set the lightning free
when i brought my lamp to You

i tried to find the perfect shell
a conch shell, just for You
but all i found were little stars
who tickled like You do!

i tried to find an angel
an angel just for You
but when i told her who You were
she said “you can’t have two”

i tried to catch a falling star
a wish, made just for You
but when i did, You said “My dear,
all I’ve wished for is in you…”

i tried to write a poem
a poem just for You
this time i found all the words
to tell the world of You

Lovely, isn’t it? 😊

3.  Walking through our garden this morning, I noticed how strong the Wisteria grew this Spring and Summer 😍 Can you see how tightly it wove itself around the trellis?

4. Now a few things worth mentioning…but -sadly- without pictures (for now). This shall be corrected real soon 😁

~ A few WIPs are almost done – mostly smalls. I’ve been working on double-layer dishcloths (worked in Tunesian Stitch in the round! 😳 It’s supercool…wait ’til you see this (I might be a smidge overexcited 😂)

~ I baked my bread for the ‘Fantastic Bake-Off’ 👩🏻‍🍳 It’s fabulously delicious 😋 I’ll show ya tomorrow.

~ I collected some hilarious things for tomorrow’s ‘Weekend Chuckle’ 😜

So – that was my week in a quick review 😊

I sure hope you enjoyed it a bit, and come visit again tomorrow! 🤗

Until then 💕

Just a few things that happened this week…

Hello all 😎First I wanna brag a bit (even though I had nothing to do with it 😋) The weather is amazing! Now keep in mind ~ I’m in Kansas, and it’s sometime in February…the 21st…it’s February 21,  yet currently 76 (!!!) degrees outside!

💫So, this morning I met up with a friend for our daily dog walk, and it was so truly gorgeous out there, that we decided to be ambitious and take this walking business one step further. But first we took the dogs home- they’re legs are short, and 2.5 miles is about all they can do. 😀 But Carole and I really did it. We walked another 4 miles! I admit, I’m a bit sore, but feel great! We walked a trail we had only heard of and talked about, and it was beautiful. Halfway through we came upon a patch of trees…

Look at these thorns 😳 They’re about 4″ long! We had no idea what kind of tree this is, so I researched it when I got home. It’s a ‘Honey Locust’ tree. They like to grow on moist riverbanks. Makes sense…..there is a little creek flowing nearby. Apparently in the summer and fall they look quite pretty. I’ll try to remember to take more photos then! 😁

That was today….the rest of this past week was just a little bit of this, and a little bit of that.

💫Last Monday I made my husband’s favorite…delicious ‘country style ribs’, cooked in beer…EEEK 😋 No wonder they’re his favorite, right?!

*I’ll share the recipe this Friday

💫There’s news on the succulent front 😍 I’m propagating my ‘Echeveria minima’. Look at these roots and ‘babies’ appearing slowly

If you’d like to try this…here’s help 😊

On Saturday was ‘National Wine Drinking’ Day ~ I don’t have footage of that 😝 but I found this poem…

Hehehe ….😂

💫Here is a  ‘work-in-progress’ currently on the table…

‘Cala Lilies’ – from sketch/drawing to oil painting…

Right now I’m filling in the background. Once it’s dry enough to hang, you’ll get to see the finished piece. 😍

💫Speaking of finished piece- here’s a wreath I made over the last week. A lot of tulle and denim, knotted, surrounding a ‘Live, Laugh, L💜ve’ Weaving. What do you think? It’s quite unusual, huh? 🙃

💫This lady moved to the store last weekend. I really enjoyed turning a boring (and a bit creepy 😬) white styrofoam head into sassy ‘Ms. Katherine’

💫A few days ago, on our way to the casino, I caught the last glimpse of the setting sun

It reminds me of one of the last scenes in one of my favorite movies/books- ‘Rebecca’, written by Daphne duMaurier, when the DeWinters leave London to go back to Manderley, and they see the fiery glow on the horizon. Thankfully here it really just is the setting sun. 🌅

💫 I came across this wonderful poem that really spoke to me. I hope you love it as much as I do, and make it your mantra 💜

💫And now ….because you’re so sweet to read all the way up to here 💕a little sneak peek at my next post  ’10 easy Home Decor ideas’

So, these are a few things from my past week. I’d love it if you would share a story or picture from your life with me 😍

My Spring~Garden

I would like to invite you to take a walk with me. Around my Spring Garden.
The warm temperatures lately have really brought it to life. 🌞
Okay…let’s go!
The first thing you notice as you step out the back door is the ornamental cherry tree…

Isn’t she gorgeous? You can (almost) watch the buds open into beautiful blossoms!

Right next to it is my lilac bush – a ‘Mother’s Day’ present from my lovely daughter! 💖

img_0242 ⬆️ That here is Lorelai 😋 She’s a bit camera shy!

At the foot of the lilac you’ll notice the Dandelions!  Hubby is not too fond of them, calls them weeds! 😳  I love them, ’cause I say weeds are just flowers you didn’t plant!

img_0240

Eddie and Lorelai are enjoying the outside-time!

img_0249

The strong winds we had last week (40-50mph) brought down a lot of twigs and branches..

img_0244

I guess yard-clean-up is in order…I’ll start with this one …

img_0245
…’cause it looks like it wants to be a Dreamcatcher! 😍 I’ll let you know how that goes!

I just filled the birdfeeder – the little ones are quite hungry these days

img_0246

The roses and the Maple tree are ready to welcome Spring…

…and so are the Forsythias and the Dogwood in the neighbors yard!

These are the succulents I had to leave outside 😕  but, just between you and me and the gatepost, they’re doing better than the ‘hen-and-chicks’ I brought inside. Hmmmm? 🤔

img_0243

The leaves turn a reddish color when the temps get colder – but other than that it seems alright. We’ll keep an eye on it!

Now last but not least, this little guy here – sprouting leaves like a champ!

img_0248

Honestly, I have no idea what this is! I dig up ‘volunteer trees’ that plant themselves too close to the house, and instead of in the trash they end up in pots!        I just don’t have the heart to throw them into the dumpster!
Here you get a glimpse at a part of Eddie’s toy collection – the rest is spread out all over the yard. 😂

Alright, we’re back. I hope you enjoyed out little stroll!
Now I wish that Mother Nature doesn’t listen to the weather forecast that calls for freezing temperatures this weekend! 😨
I will keep you posted on the progress, dreamcatcher- and nature-wise!

Until then-take good care of yourself❣

My first ever NEWSLETTER … eek – please be patient with me :)

Hello all ~ It is Monday! Do you dread it, or do you look forward to it? I personally love it, because I’m in the shop on weekends…so Monday is my ‘your Saturday’.

So…Monday, new week, new possibilities – I thought I try on something new for size. A newsletter! Let’s hope I have enough news to fill this page, to keep you entertained!

  1. After I finished the wallhanging (did you read about it?) I wandered around the house…a little aimless… didn’t really know what to do … so I went into my studio, and searched my bead stash for inspiration…and I came across some beautiful gemstone beads in black and grey hues. I paired them with memory-wire to make a wrap bracelet. I love memory-wire bracelet, because you get the stacked look, without having to put on multiple bracelets. Very time consuming – time we don’t have in the morning…Thanks snooze-button! 😉 Here are pictures of the finished bracelet and a close-up of the pretty beads

20150820_151856-1-1 The beads are – white/grey Howlite chips, Agate, Marble cones, dalmatian Jasper, Mother-of-Pearl and Czech glass discs.

2. I replanted my succulents – those poor things were really suffocating in their little plastic pots they came in. Now they’re enjoying the beautiful (almost fall-like) days grouped on the patio table….and I enjoy them!

3. I designed a bracelet for my next workshop, and actually set a date!

If you’re in the area (Weston, MO) stop in to say ‘HI’ and participate!

4. I put up a partition in the store, but the drapes look a bit … well, blah! I’m planning to embellish them with various one-strand creations. One of them is Macramé – haven’t done that in ages. I remembered seeing a how-to in one of my clever craft books. I went looking for it, found it (!!!!) – it was a good day- , got out my hemp, and wood beads and started knotting. It actually looks like it’s supposed to…hehehe…told you it was a good day!

IMG_20150823_153640

Now I have more creations to create, plans running around in my head to be put on paper, and dusting…need to dust! 😀                                                                                                                                                                                            So I let you go for now – please look for the next post/newsletter! As always, I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Love    ~Tina xoxo
