Like A Butterfly πŸ¦‹

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

You’re probably wondering about the title of this post πŸ€”

Let me explain…that’s how I feel these days – like a butterfly flitting from task to task. Somehow I can’t sit still for any length of time. I’m always thinking about things I wanna/gotta do. And it’s never the one thing I’m doing right then and there. πŸ™ƒ

Do you know what I mean? Do you have times like that?

Things that did get done

-I did clean up baskets in my ‘Yarn-Room’. But only because the new winder called me in there. 😁

-I did go on a few walks this week. My friend Carole and I are taking advantage of the glorious weather – morning temperatures in the 40s is quite a change from last week, but we’re enjoying the sunshine that comes with it, and the fact that we’re not damp after one mile 😝

-Some yard work – The ‘Rose of Sharon’ bush that was out of control is no more. Normally I don’t like cutting down Flora that’s healthy and growing. But this bush didn’t seem to be doing too well. It was still green and growing, but the leaves were very small, and the buds wouldn’t open to all their glory. So the clippers came out…this is what’s left

It’s hard to believe that, just a few years ago, this was a spindly, little twig with a few short roots.

The trim should give it new life…we’ll see next year. 😊

While I was outside with my camera I noticed the sun hitting this beauty just right

Doesn’t it look like it’s glowing? 😍

We have the first red leaves in the yard! The Maple ‘volunteer’ in the flower pot wants to be the first one to announce that ‘Fall is here’ 🍁

The dogs enjoyed the time we spent outside πŸ’•

-Carpet steps are (finally) clean πŸ˜ƒ

Ever since we moved in I’ve had this problem with dingy steps, well – just the edges. Because our Lorelai (the white one ⬆️) is very low to the ground, so her belly gets a bit dirty walking around outside. It doesn’t help that she loves to lay down in the grass, pull herself forward, all around the yard πŸ˜†

Then she comes in, cleaning her belly on the steps 😝

I’ve tried every commercial product under the sun…nothing would get these edges clean. But now – thank you, Pinterest! – they’re clean…and it’s not the different lighting πŸ˜†

before

It’s a miracle! I’ll tell you what did it…

3/4 cup Hydrogen Peroxide

2 teaspoons baking soda

1squirt of Dawn

Mix it well, dab, then scrub, onto the stain. Done!

Happy Tina here! πŸ˜ƒ

-Crocheting

By the end of every day I kick back in front of the TV and add rows to ‘Georgia Mae’s Flower Patch’ 😍 Yes, the plan to make it a Crochet-Along is still solid. I’m taking pattern-notes, and hope to have Part I up by this weekend!

-I guess now I can add this blog-post to my list of things done 😁

I hope you are enjoying a sunny, creative, and beautiful day! πŸ’•

Sunshine, Flowers, and a Tiny Spider πŸŒž

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

Summer Sunday Afternoon 😍 Are you relaxing with a book, a project, or are you just enjoying the lazy hours this time of the week brings? 😊

For me it’s a combination of all three. 😎

Before I settled in, I walked around our flowery garden, and snapped some pretty pictures.

As I’m sorting through the photos I realize I should have paid better attention to the little labels in my flower pots upon purchase. πŸ˜• I know some names of the more popular plants…but others escape me. So you’re not gonna learn anything today πŸ˜‰ just enjoy!

The first thing I noticed when I stepped outside was a little spider busily running back and forth, weaving a beautiful web. It was not easy capturing the web…but I got some pretty sunshine-y pictures while trying 🌞

And then I got it…see her in the bottom right corner? πŸ•Έ

The Wisteria is on her second bloom this year 😍

I can’t get enough of the Hydrangea πŸ’•

Snapdragons have always been one of my favorites 😊

I love to pinch their little cheeks πŸ˜†

The ‘Rose of Sharon’ bushes are just now starting to bloom

So is the Hibiscus

Here are some ‘what were they called again?’ 😁

Just as I turned to go inside I glanced at the little field of clover, and decided to give them a spot in the limelight πŸ™‚

I hope you enjoyed this little trip into my world 😍

I’m wishing you a fabulous Sunday afternoon! πŸ’•

Monthly Meet-up ~ Flowers 🌺 πŸŒ·πŸ’

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

Today I finally found the time to read many of your wonderful blogs πŸ˜ƒ

While indulging in that, I stumbled across a photo challenge, hosted by Wild Daffodil

This month’s theme is Flowers πŸ’

Since we’re having a very late Spring, I didn’t expect too much when I headed into the yard with my camera. But upon closer inspection I did spot a few picture-worthy blooms. πŸ˜ƒ

Under a just-now-sprouting-green ‘Rose of Sharon’ bush I found some ‘Forget-me-nots’ 😊

The Lilac bush is showing off it’s beauty – and spreading it’s wonderful fragrance through the little corner of our world 😍

Dandelions…we have Dandelions! 😁 But I do love them so they get to stay (and spread πŸ˜‰)

Then I spotted some little violets hiding in the grass πŸ™‚

Aren’t they lovely? πŸ’•

Back inside I noticed that my ‘Christmas Cactus’ is starting to bloom πŸ˜† Does that count?

Silly little thing 😁

I did save my favorite picture for last 😍

Make a wish! πŸ§šπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I know that wasn’t much…but I think the few that had the decency to show up deserve a little praise! 😁

Let’s hope that Flowers will bloom all around us soon! πŸ’•

Thanks for dropping by! πŸ€— I hope you enjoyed your stay!

🌻Nature πŸ„ Tales πŸŒ²

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Did you come back to see the pictures I promised you yesterday? 😊 Cool – let’s take a look πŸ‘€

1. Fairies and Glitter

When I stepped outside into a glorious cool morning yesterday, I saw ‘Fairy-Glitter’ on the rosebush πŸ’œ You know that can only mean one thing…I missed the Fairy Party ✨✨✨

πŸ’«That reminded me of this lovely poem from Marian May

Golden Glitter

It sparkles on their cheek

The cheeks of the Fairies dear

They are always beautiful

Their cheeks sparkle with glitter

And they are forever happy

They are a lot like my big sister

And they have wings of silk as well

Their hair is curly

And their lips are cherry

Their pretty wings

Flutter in the breeze

And the swirls on them

Are made of golden glitter
~Marian~

Cute, isn’t it?! 😍

If you love Fairies, you might enjoy this little post from last year called Do you believe in 398.2?

Let me know if you do. πŸ€—

2. Visitors to the backyard

Not only is she amazingly beautiful, she’s also very patient 😊  She waited until I got my camera, snapped a few pictures – then she flew away

Wah! 😳 The sneaky snake in the geraniums

We took her to a nearby creek, and hope to never see her again! 😬

I don’t know if a mushroom is considered a ‘visitor’…probably not. But nevertheless, here is one

…growing out of the side of a flower pot

3. An old tree

This old lady sits in an old cemetery on Ft. Leavenworth, KS. I visited there yesterday

Breathtaking, isn’t she? πŸ’œ

The reports on her age vary, but most people think that she’s at least 150 – 200 years old.

I hope you enjoyed my ‘Nature Tales’ 😊 and stop by again soon.

Until then πŸ’•

Just A Few Random Things πŸ¦„

Hello my lovely friends    πŸ’•  It’s been a minute or two, hasn’t it? Actually – almost a week 😳 Oh my! I’ve been a bit under the weather all week πŸ€’ so it’s not been the most productive one. But…I’m back πŸ€— and really glad you are too!

Today I just wanna show you a few random things I’ve thought about this past week…just to get back into the swing of it all. 😁

1. A few months ago I bought some succulents, and on the way home a few of the leaves broke fell off. Luckily I had just read an article about ‘Propagading Succulents’ πŸ˜ƒ So I thought I give it a try. And guess what? It worked! 😎 See….

Well, I guess I don’t have a picture from the beginning – this is about 3 weeks in 😊 It did slow down some after the initial ‘growth spurt’

But they are coming along nicely 😍

2. While searching for the ‘Wildflower’ poem last week – you might remember – I came across these lovely words from Rustine Hamlett  πŸ’œ

This makes me smile every time…

 I Tried To Write A Poem…

i tried to write a poem
a poem just for You
but when i sought to find the words
like hummingbirds, they flew!

i tried to bake some cookies
a dozen, just for You
but before they hit the oven
we’d shared the yummy goo

i tried to paint a picture
a picture just for You
but the colors all ran out of line
like sunlight through the dew

i tried to plant a garden
wildflowers, just for You
but when i’d tilled and sown the soil
too tall for me they grew!

i tried to find a treasure
a treasure just for You
but when i looked inside the chest
i found a gift from You

i tried to tell a story
a mystery, just for You
but when i lost the villain’s trail
’twas You who found the clue

i tried to catch some fireflies
green starlight, just for You
but you smiled, and set the lightning free
when i brought my lamp to You

i tried to find the perfect shell
a conch shell, just for You
but all i found were little stars
who tickled like You do!

i tried to find an angel
an angel just for You
but when i told her who You were
she said “you can’t have two”

i tried to catch a falling star
a wish, made just for You
but when i did, You said “My dear,
all I’ve wished for is in you…”

i tried to write a poem
a poem just for You
this time i found all the words
to tell the world of You

Lovely, isn’t it? 😊

3.  Walking through our garden this morning, I noticed how strong the Wisteria grew this Spring and Summer 😍 Can you see how tightly it wove itself around the trellis?

4. Now a few things worth mentioning…but -sadly- without pictures (for now). This shall be corrected real soon 😁

~ A few WIPs are almost done – mostly smalls. I’ve been working on double-layer dishcloths (worked in Tunesian Stitch in the round! 😳 It’s supercool…wait ’til you see this (I might be a smidge overexcited πŸ˜‚)

~ I baked my bread for the ‘Fantastic Bake-Off’ πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³ It’s fabulously delicious πŸ˜‹ I’ll show ya tomorrow.

~ I collected some hilarious things for tomorrow’s ‘Weekend Chuckle’ 😜

So – that was my week in a quick review 😊

I sure hope you enjoyed it a bit, and come visit again tomorrow! πŸ€—

Until then πŸ’•

Fighting Mosquitoes One Plant At A Time

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• How sweet of you to peek in!

If you were with me last year you might remember this one. For all my new friends, here’s a ‘rerun’ πŸ™‚

Can you believe it’s almost May? That means it’s finally time to tend to the flowerbeds.
Right now I’m taking a break from weed-pulling Β ….ugh….all that rain and the humidity really made them flourish. πŸ˜– I do leave the pretty ones with the flowers, Β but sorry ‘Creeping Charlie’ you gotta go.

Then it’s off to buy the flowers! Yay! Do you get overwhelmed at the nursery/garden center? I sure do – my flowerbed is not all that big, so I can’t get that many, and I can never decide which ones of the pretties to take home.

But ~ this year it’s going to be easy! See, I’m very allergic to mosquito bites. Those little suckers leave me severely swollen and itchy. So I was very glad when I came across this nifty chart that lists all the plants mosquitoes hate! Ha! Got them now! 😜

I will plant them all around the patio, and in pots around and on the table. I do wish I could cover myself in all these plants…just to be on the safe side. That is of course not possible, but it gave me an idea for a fun sketch πŸ˜‹

Don’t you wish? Then all you need is have someone throw a net Β over you to keep the bees away! 🐝

I will plant everything this week…hopefully it’s successful.

(Update- last year we had a lot less mosquitoes, I’m hoping it was due to the plants , and we’ll be bite-free again this year! 😊

Going now to pull some more weeds! 😝

Oh, wait…..I just found this helpful hint

Do you have any experience with this? If so, please let us know!

I hope you found these tips and tricks helpful πŸ€—

Until next time πŸ’•
