What’s New You Ask? Okay, I’ll tell ya

Hello my lovely friends

I’ve been planning this post – okay, some might call it procrastinating – for a while now. Mostly because I was afraid that I start rambling…so I tried to get it perfect in my head.
Then I realized that this is not getting anybody anywhere.

So, without further ado…here are the News

My Vision Board

I’ve been hearing, reading a lot about Vision Boards lately. That made me think about where I wanna be one, two, five years from now.
And while I don’t have a physical board with pictures taped all over it – I do know now what I want my (creative, professional [???]) future to be.

Well – I love working with yarn, I do love to inspire and be inspired by the beautiful work of others, I love to teach and learn. So on top of my ‘Vision Board’ it would say…

I would like to will own a pretty house, preferably by the ocean…a big lake will do, and turn it into a yarn-, book-, coffee-shop!

Something like this…

It would have comfy chairs and sofas, shelves with books and yarn, where people could sit and read, and crochet or knit, all the while surrounded by air infused with a pleasant coffee fragrance. And we would have the occasional yarn-retreat – with a whole weekend dedicated to pretty yarns, patterns, and friendship!

Can you see it?

My lovely friend Michele can…so much so that she agreed to be my partner in crime this wonderful adventure.

But – every journey starts with the first step.

We started a Facebook group, Colorful (Yarn) Creations, Inspiration, and YOU – maybe you’d like to join us?

We started a weekly Crochet Group in town – if you’re in the area…maybe you’d like to peek in

And – we’re planning our first yarn retreat! EEEK! It’s still very much in the planning stages, but we’re getting there.

Here’s what we know so far:

~ It’s going to be a free one – since neither one of us has done anything like this before, and we don’t even know if we’re good at it.
I’m thinking reading the ‘Betty Hechtman – Yarn Retreat’ books is not really a great reference.

~ It’ll be a one day retreat – a Saturday in May

~We do know where we want to hold it…but still gotta talk to the landlady

~We’ll do one project – a small crossbody purse. Now we gotta plan out the afternoon

That’s all we have for now – I will keep you updated!

Projects

I did get some crocheting done…

Another Idea

Since I got a nifty camera for Christmas I’ve been waiting for Mother Nature to do something pretty so I can capture it!

Then I was thinking – I would love to see photographs taken by all of you.

So what I would like to do is start a ‘Photograph –something‘ – I don’t know what to call it. It’s not a challenge or a contest…maybe ‘A hunt for images’?

The way I see it is that – for the first one – I would post five keywords, and photos, then you would go out and capture images (following the prompts) and post them for all of us to see.
I could collect ideas from all of you, and every 2, 3 weeks post a new ‘Prompt Post’
What do you think?

I think it would be a fun project that would bring us all a little closer together, get to know each other.

I’ll leave you now to think on that        hoping I wasn’t too ‘rambly’

I look forward to hearing from you!

Until then

A Kansas Icestorm ~ A Few Impressions 🌨

Hello my lovely friends 💕

We always knew that Kansas weather is a bit crazy 😏 But yesterday it got outright weird.

The temperature dropped from 62* on Monday to somewhere in the 20s Tuesday morning. That brought, of course, thunder, lightning, and ice rain 😳 Heavy icy pellets were bouncing around on the pavement, and accumulated very fast. So what looked like a beautiful blanket of snow was actually a treacherous thick layer of ice.

Tell you what – it’s a good thing I had all those delicious Brownies on Monday. Otherwise I might have skated around instead of breaking the ice 😂

But enough talk…here are some pictures. It was actually quite pretty. 😊 Easy to say from the safety of my back yard 😉

That’s a lot of ice! The frogs were not amused 😆

Lorelai is just annoyed 😏

Did you see the pretty icicles hanging from the table?

Here I played with the black-and-white option in the editor 😊

The yard isn’t all that big…so that’s it 😁

Oh, wait… I have this one from a few years ago. This beauty formed between the house and a tree right after a winter storm. Nature truly is amazing, isn’t it!? 😍

I hope you’re warm and safe in your neck of the woods. 😘

Thanks for peeking in. 🤗 I hope you do so again soon!

Until then 💕

Do You Love Purple? 💜

Hello my lovely friends💜 How are you on this fine day? I hope all is well! 😍

It wasn’t too long ago that I discovered my love for purple. It actually started with some beautiful Amethysts I found in my Jewelry making days. 😊

So here are some things and facts in/about Purple 😀
>THE MEANING OF PURPLE AROUND THE GLOBE • In Thailand, purple is worn by a widow mourning her husband’s death.

• The purple in the U.S. military Purple Heart award represents courage. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the United States armed forces who have been wounded in action.

• In Tibet, amethyst is considered to be sacred to Buddha and rosaries are often fashioned from it.

• A man with the rank of Roman Emperor was referred to as “The Purple” — a name that came from the color of the robe he wore.

• In Japan, the color purple signifies wealth and position.

• Purple was the royal color of the Caesars.

• In pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian form of egg dying, purple speaks of fasting, faith, patience, and trust.

• Purple denotes virtue and faith in Egypt.

• In Tudor Britain, violet was the color of mourning, as well as the color of religious fervor.

• Traditionally, in Iran, purple is a color of what is to come. A sun or moon that looks purple during an eclipse is an omen of bloodshed within the year.

This is one of my favorite poems. 😍 It was written in 1961 by Jenny Joseph. The 2nd line was actually the inspiration for the ‘Red Hats Club’ 😁

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

When I’m an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick flowers in other people’s gardens

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple

Beautiful Projects…

…like these Wristwarmers <— Link will take you to Ravelry or this ‘Purple-icious Shawl’ 😍 This is my design, but this Link will take you to Ravelry Here are a few things that you normally wouldn’t think of when you hear ‘Purple’ 😁

Like the purple kitchen! Yay or Nay? 😋

Purple doors are a definite Yay for me 😍 How about a purple car? 😎 Purple Candy! Yes, please! 🤩 Did I forget anything? 😄 What do you think? Is purple your color? Or are you still waiting to fall in love with it?

I would love to know! 😁

Have a fabulous ‘Purple-icious’ day! 💕

Wondering What I’ve Been Up To? 😁

Keep reading and you’ll find out 😊

Hello my lovely friends 💕

It feels like it’s been forever that I ‘talked’ to you. See – I’m going through an ‘obsessive’ crochet phase. I get that once in a while.

I thought about you and this little blog of mine often. I outline posts in my head, grab the iPad…then one glance toward the yarn – and that’s all she wrote. Or in this case – didn’t write. 😉

But maybe the fact that you’re actually reading something I wrote is a sign that the phase is ending. 😊

Now back to why you’re here…you wanna know what I’ve been up to. Here you go

I made a few hats

I shall call them ‘Never get lost in a snowstorm again’ 😜

I found a great pattern on Pinterest – How to size and crochet the perfect hat/beanie.

It’s a written pattern, and really easy to follow. If you want to make a hat or two…take a look

It doesn’t get easier than that. 😍

The only thing I changed, I added the ribbed edge using alternating fpdc/bpdc to give them a tighter fit. 😊

A scarf and another hat

For this scarf I recreated one of my jewelry designs The two ends wrap around the neck, then get tucked through a loop behind the flower. That way you can wear it tight for extra warmth, or, if that gives you a ‘choking’ feeling, loose for looks. 😊I do plan to write the pattern over the weekend, so you will see it within the next few days. Pinky swear 😘The matching hat

My New Purse

I really love how this one came out 😊 And it’s so much fun to make…I see a few more of them in our future 😁

A Puzzle Sweater

I made a little progress on this sweater. I took the pieces that were joined together apart, and started over. There is an idea behind the madness 😜 You’ll see!

I’m currently working on a Puzzle Poncho for a constantly shivering friend. That poor girl is always cold, and since we are expecting another arctic blast 😩 she needs something warm and yarny asap. 😊 By next time I’ll have a picture…hopefully of her wearing it! 😍

Oh….one more thing! Last weekend was the Fantastic Bake-Along, hosted by Tracy on her blog It’s a T-Sweets Day

On the menu this weekend were ‘Mary Berry Gingersnaps’. Rebecca was kind enough to share her amazing (sounding) recipe. Rebecca is the author of a fabulous blog – Twinklehook

If you don’t know them – you should hop on over to their blogs. Tracy and Rebecca are both awesome and inspiring crafters and wonderful friends! 😍

I did not ‘bake along’ this week 😕 I knew if I baked those cookies, and have them in the house, then any chance of wearing my jeans, which I accidentally shrunk in the wash 😉, any chance of wearing them in the near future would just be gone.

So I lived vicariously through the success stories of all the other bakers – while gnawing on a carrot 🥕

Now I’ll go back to wielding the crochet hook so my lovely friend will be cold no more 😃

Have a lovely weekend!

I’m sending you Smiles 🙂 Hugs 🤗 and Love 💕
