May Photo-a-Day Challenge πŸ“Έ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

One of the CitySonnet photo-a-day challenge prompts is ‘weathered’. I knew exactly what I wanted to show-and-tell for that one.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a historic, ‘weathered’ little church. It’s out in the country, off on a little side road. It’s almost 100 years old, with a little graveyard in the front. Some research showed that it was awarded a grant for restauration from the Kansas Historic Fund. Yay 😍 And they didn’t waste any time restoring this little gem. Because when I went back (finally remembering to bring my camera πŸ˜‹) people and machines were hard at work, reversing the decay. Great for the little church in the prairie, but the yellow and blue machinery kinda ruined the photo – shoot. πŸ˜‰

So I turned to this amazing tree that greets me every day at the beginning of my walk. He guards the start of a trail along a creek through downtown Leavenworth. We call him the ‘Hulk’ tree, ’cause it looks like he’s bursting out of his bark. 😎

To see just how majestic this tree is, check out my itty-bitty friend in the bottom right corner πŸ˜„πŸ’œπŸŒ³

Thanks for reading❣️ Be safe!

May – Photo A Day Challenge 🌸 Day 4

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

I almost didn’t make it today πŸ™ƒ Reason why? Well, today’s prompt in the photo challenge, hosted by CitySonnet , is ‘Shadow’, and, thanks to thick rain clouds, there is nothing like that to be found outside.

But then I looked around inside, and saw that this feather-thingy was throwing an interesting shadow against the wall.

I show you the feather-thing first, since the shadow is a bit scary πŸ˜…

Looks quite harmless, doesn’t it? But – wait for it…

Eeek! Told ya 😳

It’s even better in black-and-white…

Now I hope that this doesn’t give us all nightmares 😬

Ta-ta for now πŸ’•

May Photo A Day Challenge – Day 3

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday doing things you love. 😊

My house is starting to smell like fresh-baked bread 😍 If it comes out as expected I’ll share the recipe with you later! πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ³

Today’s prompt for City Sonnet’s photo challenge is ‘Natural’.

What comes to your mind when you hear the word ‘natural’? I immediately thought of the beautiful, overgrown patch between two buildings I saw yesterday on my walk in downtown Leavenworth. πŸ˜ŠπŸ€πŸŒΈ

Here’s a close up…

And just outside the frame of those pictures ⬆️ grew a beautiful Poppy…

Beautiful! Isn’t it? 😎

Now I gotta go tend to my bread! πŸ€—

Be safe & stay healthy! πŸ’•

Photo Challenge – Day 2

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

Today’s (Day 2) prompt in the CitySonnet Challenge is ‘Glistening’. And while out on a walk I caught some images of a stream that is doing just that. 😊

I hope you get to enjoy a walk on this fabulous weekend! πŸŒžπŸŒ·πŸ€

Be safe! πŸ’•

Hello (again) my lovely friends πŸ’•

‘Welcome May’ was the first prompt (yesterday’s). Great – the first day and I’m already behind. πŸ˜‚

So, without further ado…here’s ‘ Welcome May’ 😎🌷🌼

This was taken on my daily walk. The sky is blue, the grass is turning green, the cows are out – a perfect day❣️

Take good care of yourself! πŸ’•

Your Advent Calendar πŸŽ„ Day 24

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

This is a bittersweet moment for me. It’s the last door of the Advent Calendar- I’m gonna miss sharing these special stories with you, but, at the same time, I’m happy because Christmas Eve is a day spent talking, laughing, eating with my wonderful family. 😍

So…the door is already open (it is quite late after all πŸ˜‰)

On this last day I’d like to show you my Christmas decorations πŸ₯°πŸŽ„

My Christmas village with carousel

The middle panel in the background is a quilt top πŸ˜… After many, many years I had to admit that it’ll never be a quilt. So it became a drape. πŸ˜‹

The β€˜Winter Wonderland’ in the living room 😊
My antique buffet I brought with me from Germany turns into an eclectic display during the winter months ⛄️
I found this beautiful painting at our local Antique Mall 😍

I wish you a wonderful Day, and hope you get to spend it with people you love! ❀️

To say it with the words of Bruce Springsteen β€œHappy Christmas, happy New Year, happy Birthday, happy rest-of-your-life” πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•
