I Miss Puddles โ˜”๏ธ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•I’ve always loved rainy days! The sound of rain against the window, the racing clouds, the smell of the air and wet asphalt. ๐Ÿ˜Š How about you? Do you feel the same or are you more of a ‘heat and sunshine’ person? Since it’s been a while since I got to enjoy the beautiful moisture from above, I took to the web, and found this… ๐Ÿ˜ƒRainyMood.com – It is an app, but this website gives you a preview ๐Ÿ˜Šโ˜”๏ธ๐ŸŒง๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒงโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ’œโ˜”๏ธ๐ŸŒง๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒงโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ’œโ˜”๏ธ๐ŸŒง๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒงโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ’œโ˜”๏ธ๐ŸŒง๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒงโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ’œโ˜”๏ธA (somewhat) Heart-shaped puddle I captured last year After a rainstorm last fall…don’t you love the tree reflection in the water? ๐Ÿ˜This is from a couple of years ago…during my ‘drawing phase’. See, rain-themed ๐Ÿ˜Maybe I’ll go now and try a rain dance! ๐Ÿ˜†I wish you a fabulous weekend, and hope you get to do things you love! ๐Ÿ’•

Sunshine, Flowers, and a Tiny Spider ๐ŸŒž

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

Summer Sunday Afternoon ๐Ÿ˜ Are you relaxing with a book, a project, or are you just enjoying the lazy hours this time of the week brings? ๐Ÿ˜Š

For me it’s a combination of all three. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Before I settled in, I walked around our flowery garden, and snapped some pretty pictures.

As I’m sorting through the photos I realize I should have paid better attention to the little labels in my flower pots upon purchase. ๐Ÿ˜• I know some names of the more popular plants…but others escape me. So you’re not gonna learn anything today ๐Ÿ˜‰ just enjoy!

The first thing I noticed when I stepped outside was a little spider busily running back and forth, weaving a beautiful web. It was not easy capturing the web…but I got some pretty sunshine-y pictures while trying ๐ŸŒž

And then I got it…see her in the bottom right corner? ๐Ÿ•ธ

The Wisteria is on her second bloom this year ๐Ÿ˜

I can’t get enough of the Hydrangea ๐Ÿ’•

Snapdragons have always been one of my favorites ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love to pinch their little cheeks ๐Ÿ˜†

The ‘Rose of Sharon’ bushes are just now starting to bloom

So is the Hibiscus

Here are some ‘what were they called again?’ ๐Ÿ˜

Just as I turned to go inside I glanced at the little field of clover, and decided to give them a spot in the limelight ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you enjoyed this little trip into my world ๐Ÿ˜

I’m wishing you a fabulous Sunday afternoon! ๐Ÿ’•

Happy โ€˜Youโ€™ Day ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ‘‘

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

Did you have a fabulous day? Whether it was spent with the kiddos, your Mom, your fur-babies or all of the above…I hope you enjoyed being celebrated, got spoiled, and remember today as a very special ‘You’ Day! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ’œ

I had a lovely time at breakfast with hubby and our daughter ๐Ÿ˜Š

Planted some of the flower-gifts

My new Hibiscus had a wonderful surprise for me this morning ๐Ÿ˜

Isn’t she gorgeous? ๐Ÿ˜

Enjoy the rest of your special day … ’cause tomorrow it’s back to this ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m sending Smiles ๐Ÿ™‚ Love ๐Ÿ’• and Hugs ๐Ÿค— your way!

Monthly Meet-up ~ Flowers ๐ŸŒบ ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿ’

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

Today I finally found the time to read many of your wonderful blogs ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

While indulging in that, I stumbled across a photo challenge, hosted by Wild Daffodil

This month’s theme is Flowers ๐Ÿ’

Since we’re having a very late Spring, I didn’t expect too much when I headed into the yard with my camera. But upon closer inspection I did spot a few picture-worthy blooms. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Under a just-now-sprouting-green ‘Rose of Sharon’ bush I found some ‘Forget-me-nots’ ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Lilac bush is showing off it’s beauty – and spreading it’s wonderful fragrance through the little corner of our world ๐Ÿ˜

Dandelions…we have Dandelions! ๐Ÿ˜ But I do love them so they get to stay (and spread ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Then I spotted some little violets hiding in the grass ๐Ÿ™‚

Aren’t they lovely? ๐Ÿ’•

Back inside I noticed that my ‘Christmas Cactus’ is starting to bloom ๐Ÿ˜† Does that count?

Silly little thing ๐Ÿ˜

I did save my favorite picture for last ๐Ÿ˜

Make a wish! ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I know that wasn’t much…but I think the few that had the decency to show up deserve a little praise! ๐Ÿ˜

Let’s hope that Flowers will bloom all around us soon! ๐Ÿ’•

Thanks for dropping by! ๐Ÿค— I hope you enjoyed your stay!

What’s New You Ask? Okay, I’ll tell ya

Hello my lovely friends

I’ve been planning this post – okay, some might call it procrastinating – for a while now. Mostly because I was afraid that I start rambling…so I tried to get it perfect in my head.
Then I realized that this is not getting anybody anywhere.

So, without further ado…here are the News

My Vision Board

I’ve been hearing, reading a lot about Vision Boards lately. That made me think about where I wanna be one, two, five years from now.
And while I don’t have a physical board with pictures taped all over it – I do know now what I want my (creative, professional [???]) future to be.

Well – I love working with yarn, I do love to inspire and be inspired by the beautiful work of others, I love to teach and learn. So on top of my ‘Vision Board’ it would say…

I would like to will own a pretty house, preferably by the ocean…a big lake will do, and turn it into a yarn-, book-, coffee-shop!ย

Something like this…

It would have comfy chairs and sofas, shelves with books and yarn, where people could sit and read, and crochet or knit, all the while surrounded by air infused with a pleasant coffee fragrance. And we would have the occasional yarn-retreat – with a whole weekend dedicated to pretty yarns, patterns, and friendship!

Can you see it?

My lovely friend Michele can…so much so that she agreed to be my partner in crime this wonderful adventure.

But – every journey starts with the first step.

We started a Facebook group, Colorful (Yarn) Creations, Inspiration, and YOU – maybe you’d like to join us?

We started a weekly Crochet Group in town – if you’re in the area…maybe you’d like to peek in

And – we’re planning our first yarn retreat! EEEK! It’s still very much in the planning stages, but we’re getting there.

Here’s what we know so far:

~ It’s going to be a free one – since neither one of us has done anything like this before, and we don’t even know if we’re good at it.
I’m thinking reading the ‘Betty Hechtman – Yarn Retreat’ books is not really a great reference.

~ It’ll be a one day retreat – a Saturday in May

~We do know where we want to hold it…but still gotta talk to the landlady

~We’ll do one project – a small crossbody purse. Now we gotta plan out the afternoon

That’s all we have for now – I will keep you updated!

Projects

I did get some crocheting done…

Another Idea

Since I got a nifty camera for Christmas I’ve been waiting for Mother Nature to do something pretty so I can capture it!

Then I was thinking – I would love to see photographs taken by all of you.

So what I would like to do is start a ‘Photograph –something‘ – I don’t know what to call it. It’s not a challenge or a contest…maybe ‘A hunt for images’?

The way I see it is that – for the first one – I would post five keywords, and photos, then you would go out and capture images (following the prompts) and post them for all of us to see.
I could collect ideas from all of you, and every 2, 3 weeks post a new ‘Prompt Post’
What do you think?

I think it would be a fun project that would bring us all a little closer together, get to know each other.

I’ll leave you now to think on thatย ย ย ย ย ย ย  hoping I wasn’t too ‘rambly’

I look forward to hearing from you!

Until then

A Kansas Icestorm ~ A Few Impressions ๐ŸŒจ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

We always knew that Kansas weather is a bit crazy ๐Ÿ˜ But yesterday it got outright weird.

The temperature dropped from 62* on Monday to somewhere in the 20s Tuesday morning. That brought, of course, thunder, lightning, and ice rain ๐Ÿ˜ณ Heavy icy pellets were bouncing around on the pavement, and accumulated very fast. So what looked like a beautiful blanket of snow was actually a treacherous thick layer of ice.

Tell you what – it’s a good thing I had all those delicious Brownies on Monday. Otherwise I might have skated around instead of breaking the ice ๐Ÿ˜‚

But enough talk…here are some pictures. It was actually quite pretty. ๐Ÿ˜Š Easy to say from the safety of my back yard ๐Ÿ˜‰

That’s a lot of ice! The frogs were not amused ๐Ÿ˜†

Lorelai is just annoyed ๐Ÿ˜

Did you see the pretty icicles hanging from the table?

Here I played with the black-and-white option in the editor ๐Ÿ˜Š

The yard isn’t all that big…so that’s it ๐Ÿ˜

Oh, wait… I have this one from a few years ago. This beauty formed between the house and a tree right after a winter storm. Nature truly is amazing, isn’t it!? ๐Ÿ˜

I hope you’re warm and safe in your neck of the woods. ๐Ÿ˜˜

Thanks for peeking in. ๐Ÿค— I hope you do so again soon!

Until then ๐Ÿ’•

Do You Love Purple? ๐Ÿ’œ

Hello my lovely friends๐Ÿ’œ How are you on this fine day? I hope all is well! ๐Ÿ˜

It wasn’t too long ago that I discovered my love for purple. It actually started with some beautiful Amethysts I found in my Jewelry making days. ๐Ÿ˜Š

So here are some things and facts in/about Purple ๐Ÿ˜€
>THE MEANING OF PURPLE AROUND THE GLOBE โ€ข In Thailand, purple is worn by a widow mourning her husbandโ€™s death.

โ€ข The purple in the U.S. military Purple Heart award represents courage. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the United States armed forces who have been wounded in action.

โ€ข In Tibet, amethyst is considered to be sacred to Buddha and rosaries are often fashioned from it.

โ€ข A man with the rank of Roman Emperor was referred to as โ€œThe Purpleโ€ โ€” a name that came from the color of the robe he wore.

โ€ข In Japan, the color purple signifies wealth and position.

โ€ข Purple was the royal color of the Caesars.

โ€ข In pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian form of egg dying, purple speaks of fasting, faith, patience, and trust.

โ€ข Purple denotes virtue and faith in Egypt.

โ€ข In Tudor Britain, violet was the color of mourning, as well as the color of religious fervor.

โ€ข Traditionally, in Iran, purple is a color of what is to come. A sun or moon that looks purple during an eclipse is an omen of bloodshed within the year.

This is one of my favorite poems. ๐Ÿ˜ It was written in 1961 by Jenny Joseph. The 2nd line was actually the inspiration for the ‘Red Hats Club’ ๐Ÿ˜

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

When I’m an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick flowers in other people’s gardens

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple

We all know the beautiful Lavender fields of the Provence.

I just learned that the UK also has purple scenery ๐Ÿ˜Š

Castle Lavender Farm is the largest lavender farm in the United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Beautiful Projects…

…like these Wristwarmers <— Link will take you to Ravelry or this ‘Purple-icious Shawl’ ๐Ÿ˜ This is my design, but this Link will take you to Ravelry Here are a few things that you normally wouldn’t think of when you hear ‘Purple’ ๐Ÿ˜

Like the purple kitchen! Yay or Nay? ๐Ÿ˜‹

Purple doors are a definite Yay for me ๐Ÿ˜ How about a purple car? ๐Ÿ˜Ž Purple Candy! Yes, please! ๐Ÿคฉ Did I forget anything? ๐Ÿ˜„ What do you think? Is purple your color? Or are you still waiting to fall in love with it?

I would love to know! ๐Ÿ˜

Have a fabulous ‘Purple-icious’ day! ๐Ÿ’•
