Monthly Meet-up ~ Flowers 🌺 πŸŒ·πŸ’

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

Today I finally found the time to read many of your wonderful blogs πŸ˜ƒ

While indulging in that, I stumbled across a photo challenge, hosted by Wild Daffodil

This month’s theme is Flowers πŸ’

Since we’re having a very late Spring, I didn’t expect too much when I headed into the yard with my camera. But upon closer inspection I did spot a few picture-worthy blooms. πŸ˜ƒ

Under a just-now-sprouting-green ‘Rose of Sharon’ bush I found some ‘Forget-me-nots’ 😊

The Lilac bush is showing off it’s beauty – and spreading it’s wonderful fragrance through the little corner of our world 😍

Dandelions…we have Dandelions! 😁 But I do love them so they get to stay (and spread πŸ˜‰)

Then I spotted some little violets hiding in the grass πŸ™‚

Aren’t they lovely? πŸ’•

Back inside I noticed that my ‘Christmas Cactus’ is starting to bloom πŸ˜† Does that count?

Silly little thing 😁

I did save my favorite picture for last 😍

Make a wish! πŸ§šπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I know that wasn’t much…but I think the few that had the decency to show up deserve a little praise! 😁

Let’s hope that Flowers will bloom all around us soon! πŸ’•

Thanks for dropping by! πŸ€— I hope you enjoyed your stay!

Trees & Shadows ~ The Sun Is Out πŸ˜Ž

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

If you stand on your tippy-toes you can see the weekend from here πŸ˜ƒ And just in time the sun decided to join us!

Everyone is squinting and blinking – it’s been a while since it was this bright outside 🌞

But you’re not here for the Kansas weather report…so I get to the ‘Trees & Shadows‘ that brought you here 😊

When I took the dogs outside, I noticed that the sun was in the perfect position for this beautiful image

Mother Nature really painted a beautiful picture here 😍

I snapped a few more photos, but the first one really is my favorite!

And I noticed the first sign of Spring

The Maple tree is budding a few weeks earlier than last year…I hope that’s a good sign 😊 and that she knows what she’s doing. Not like these poor things πŸ˜‚

I hope you have a fabulous weekend! 😎🌞🌷

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the short trip into our backyard πŸ’•

What’s New You Ask? Okay, I’ll tell ya

Hello my lovely friends

I’ve been planning this post – okay, some might call it procrastinating – for a while now. Mostly because I was afraid that I start rambling…so I tried to get it perfect in my head.
Then I realized that this is not getting anybody anywhere.

So, without further ado…here are the News

My Vision Board

I’ve been hearing, reading a lot about Vision Boards lately. That made me think about where I wanna be one, two, five years from now.
And while I don’t have a physical board with pictures taped all over it – I do know now what I want my (creative, professional [???]) future to be.

Well – I love working with yarn, I do love to inspire and be inspired by the beautiful work of others, I love to teach and learn. So on top of my ‘Vision Board’ it would say…

I would like to will own a pretty house, preferably by the ocean…a big lake will do, and turn it into a yarn-, book-, coffee-shop!

Something like this…

It would have comfy chairs and sofas, shelves with books and yarn, where people could sit and read, and crochet or knit, all the while surrounded by air infused with a pleasant coffee fragrance. And we would have the occasional yarn-retreat – with a whole weekend dedicated to pretty yarns, patterns, and friendship!

Can you see it?

My lovely friend Michele can…so much so that she agreed to be my partner in crime this wonderful adventure.

But – every journey starts with the first step.

We started a Facebook group, Colorful (Yarn) Creations, Inspiration, and YOU – maybe you’d like to join us?

We started a weekly Crochet Group in town – if you’re in the area…maybe you’d like to peek in

And – we’re planning our first yarn retreat! EEEK! It’s still very much in the planning stages, but we’re getting there.

Here’s what we know so far:

~ It’s going to be a free one – since neither one of us has done anything like this before, and we don’t even know if we’re good at it.
I’m thinking reading the ‘Betty Hechtman – Yarn Retreat’ books is not really a great reference.

~ It’ll be a one day retreat – a Saturday in May

~We do know where we want to hold it…but still gotta talk to the landlady

~We’ll do one project – a small crossbody purse. Now we gotta plan out the afternoon

That’s all we have for now – I will keep you updated!

Projects

I did get some crocheting done…

Another Idea

Since I got a nifty camera for Christmas I’ve been waiting for Mother Nature to do something pretty so I can capture it!

Then I was thinking – I would love to see photographs taken by all of you.

So what I would like to do is start a ‘Photograph –something‘ – I don’t know what to call it. It’s not a challenge or a contest…maybe ‘A hunt for images’?

The way I see it is that – for the first one – I would post five keywords, and photos, then you would go out and capture images (following the prompts) and post them for all of us to see.
I could collect ideas from all of you, and every 2, 3 weeks post a new ‘Prompt Post’
What do you think?

I think it would be a fun project that would bring us all a little closer together, get to know each other.

I’ll leave you now to think on that        hoping I wasn’t too ‘rambly’

I look forward to hearing from you!

Until then

A Kansas Icestorm ~ A Few Impressions πŸŒ¨

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

We always knew that Kansas weather is a bit crazy 😏 But yesterday it got outright weird.

The temperature dropped from 62* on Monday to somewhere in the 20s Tuesday morning. That brought, of course, thunder, lightning, and ice rain 😳 Heavy icy pellets were bouncing around on the pavement, and accumulated very fast. So what looked like a beautiful blanket of snow was actually a treacherous thick layer of ice.

Tell you what – it’s a good thing I had all those delicious Brownies on Monday. Otherwise I might have skated around instead of breaking the ice πŸ˜‚

But enough talk…here are some pictures. It was actually quite pretty. 😊 Easy to say from the safety of my back yard πŸ˜‰

That’s a lot of ice! The frogs were not amused πŸ˜†

Lorelai is just annoyed 😏

Did you see the pretty icicles hanging from the table?

Here I played with the black-and-white option in the editor 😊

The yard isn’t all that big…so that’s it 😁

Oh, wait… I have this one from a few years ago. This beauty formed between the house and a tree right after a winter storm. Nature truly is amazing, isn’t it!? 😍

I hope you’re warm and safe in your neck of the woods. 😘

Thanks for peeking in. πŸ€— I hope you do so again soon!

Until then πŸ’•

Ideas for an empty wall

I don’t know about you, but, once in a while, I get really bored by my wall-art. Then I go on the hunt…only to find out that replacing it – even only a few pieces – could potentially break the bank. Apparently I have very expensive taste.😝
What to do? Let me tell you! I’m in the middle of a budget-friendly project. Photos!
There are motifs all around the house, the yard, and prints are very affordable.
I took my camera and started snapping pictures (if you have a device with a good photo editor built in use that one). Once you start looking, you’ll be surprised how many picture-worthy images there are. Walk around and snap away!

Here are some examples of my photo shoot…

I took the pictures, then I cropped them in the editor. As you can see – anything that catches your eye will work. Plants, flowers, a sparkly Christmas ornament…

Oh…here’s my favorite…

Sometimes a little staging helps to liven up the object

Once you’re happy with the look, print them (or have them printed at the drugstore – that’s what I do), stick ’em in a frame and – voila – all new wall decor.
For frames – speaking of breaking the budget, right 😦   I scour Thrift- and Charity shops.
Since that can be very time consuming (very inconvenient, especially now during the Holiday season),  I will share a nifty idea with you – Clip-Frames. Now, now – don’t wrinkle your nose and go ‘eww’  – hear me out 😄  Buy one that’s bigger than your photo, line the back with scrapbook paper or fabric

arrange your photo(s)  on the background, glass, clip – done! There…doesn’t it look great?

(Sunset photo taken by Gerald Rowles)
Here you see that magazine pictures, and greeting cards work very well too.

If you need a little help arranging them on the wall – here are two links that can help you out…

Now go snap some photos, and get decorating
I hope you show me your pictures, finished walls!
As always, if you have any questions send me a message.

Until next time

~Tina xoxo
