The Year In The Rearview Mirror πŸ€

Hello my lovely friends 😍

So, we’re getting ready to wave goodbye to 2020. πŸ‘‹πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ₯‚

And I’m pretty sure that most, if not all of us, love to see it behind us. πŸ™ƒ

There were a lot of ups and downs. But since I don’t have pictures of the ‘downs’, πŸ˜‰ and I don’t wanna bring anyone ‘down’ (see what I did there πŸ˜‹), I’m gonna share with you some pretty pictures of the past year. πŸ’–

I hope you enjoy the show 😊

The Missouri River on a cold January morning…

In February I picked up my pencils again…

March brought the first signs of Spring …

In April we took a lot of long walks, and sometimes I even brought my camera πŸ˜„

Same in May 😎

In June I got out all my vintage cookbooks, and gave them the spotlight they deserve!

And went on more walks…

In July I started training my future Yoga partner 😍 and…well, you know πŸ˜…

In August we witnessed some baby birds getting ready to leave the nest and explore this strange, new world – right from our porch 😊

In September we painted the house…and I got my purple door 😌

In October I voted for the first time since becoming a citizen in 2019 πŸ€“πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

In November I made this unique Advent wreath πŸ•―

December brought some beautiful days with sunshine and balmy temperatures – sprinkled among the icy, freezer-like temps. But we don’t wanna talk about those 😁

This was my year in pretty pictures. Thank you for stopping by and looking! πŸ₯° I hope you enjoyed them all (or at least most of them!) ☺️

All that’s left now is me wishing you a wonderful, healthy, pleasant 2021!

Be well! πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸ₯‚

Your Advent ~ Calendar – Day 24 πŸŽ…πŸΌπŸŽ„πŸ•―

Hello my lovely friends 😍 Happy Christmas Eve!

The last door! And what a beautiful one it is! Let’s see what’s hiding behind it…

It’s the Christmas Star 🌟

The ‘National Geographic’ sent a photographer to Alaska to capture this historic, amazing event. 🌟

To the right you can catch a glimpse of the beautiful Northern Lights!

Well, this is it! Christmas is here πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸΌ Thank you so much for joining me for this daily countdown to Christmas Day πŸ’– I hope you enjoyed the journey. I know I did!

Have a very merry, safe, peaceful Christmas! πŸ₯°

Your Advent ~ Calendar – Day 21 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends 😍

So apparently I’ve been trailing behind the actual calendar days πŸ™ˆ How long has that been going on? πŸ˜… I guess we’ll be opening 2 doors tomorrow πŸ˜‹

But first things first…today’s – eh, yesterday’s – door

Wanna talk Christmas Carols? 🎢

Do you have a favorite? Which one makes you reach for the skip/off button on your listening device?

I go first 😁

Favorite is a tough choice πŸ€”

I’ll go with (for every day listening) –

‘I need a little Christmas’ by Johnny Mathis

and

‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’ by the-one-and-only Garth Brooks 🀠

Those two make me dance around the house every time!

For Christmas Eve –

Silent Night – I don’t have a favorite artist there πŸ•―

Now – which one makes me scramble to the skip/off button?

That’s easy…‘Santa Baby’ – I truly can’t stand listening to that one! I think this song is everything that Christmas is not/should not be about! πŸ˜•

So, that’s my list 🎢🎢🎢 I’d love to hear your carol choices! πŸ₯°

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you’ll be back for the opening of the remaining doors (remember…2 tomorrow πŸ˜‰)

Your Advent ~ Calendar – Day 20 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends 😍

Someone couldn’t wait and already peeked behind the door! πŸ˜‹ Okay, who was it? Doesn’t matter, let’s open it all the way, see what’s there!

It’s a lovely PSA – especially helpful if you have little ones that are quite worried about the jolly guy in the red suit πŸŽ…πŸΌ

I personally was glad to hear it! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ•―

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you’ll be back for the opening of the remaining doors. πŸ₯°

Your Advent ~ Calendar – Day 18 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ₯°

I can’t wait to show you what’s behind Door #18 😍 You’re in for a treat!

Let’s do this…

Good morning, Lansing 🀩

When I was little and the sky was painted pink, my Mom always told us that the angels are baking Christmas cookies! πŸ’– Isn’t that a lovely thought?

Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you’ll be back for the opening of the remaining doors! πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸΌπŸ•―

Have a lovely weekend! Stay well! πŸ€—

Your Advent~Calendar – Day 14 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ₯°

Sorry this is a tad late. I’m having a little trouble in the energy/motivation department. But, never mind that – we’re all here now, so let’s open this door 😊

Door #14 hid a beautiful Poinsettia 😍

And some great tips all around the gorgeous plant from country living.com* , like how to pick the perfect plant, how to care for them…who knew they need so much water 😳

Happy plant-shopping! I hope you find a fabulous one! πŸ’–

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you’ll be back for the opening of the remaining doors! πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Your Advent~Calendar – Day 12 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends 😍

Another exciting Saturday night in our house πŸ˜… So let’s open Door #12…I have a feeling that whatever we find will be put to good use tonight πŸ˜‰

A pretty mug to hold your favorite hot beverage while binging the Christmas movies. And what will that be? Hot Chocolate, Coffee, mulled wine?

Do you have a favorite Christmas movie? πŸŽ„

I do like a few of the newer Hallmark Christmas movies, but my absolute favorite is ‘White Christmas’ πŸŒ¨β„οΈπŸŒ¨ I watched it whenever it was on. No matter the time of day πŸ˜… So you can imagine my delight when I found out that it’s on Netflix! At least now I can somewhat control the time and frequency. πŸ™ƒ

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that you will be back for the opening of the remaining doors! πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Your Advent ~ Calendar – Day 6 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends 😍

Thanks for stopping by to open Door #6 😊 Ready? Okay, here we go. Push…

It’s a delicious bread recipe πŸ˜ƒ

This bread is so easy to bake, yet so amazing that I make sure I never run out!

You only need 4 ingredients (flour, yeast, salt and water).

Well, and patience πŸ˜‰ You do need patience. After you mix everything together, the dough needs to rest for 18 – 24 hours. So you do need to plan ahead.

For the recipe please click here (Recipe will open in a new window)

And I sift the flour. The recipe doesn’t call for sifting, but I do it anyway (it won’t affect the end result). I do that for everything. Ever since I found some brown, wiggley things in my (fresh!!!) bag of flour! πŸ™ˆ Ewwwww!

I hope you try this recipe, and enjoy your fresh loaf of bread 😊 Don’t forget to let me know!

Happy baking! πŸ€“

Your Advent~Calendar – Day 3 πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Hello my lovely friends 😍

Happy Door #3 Day! Now let’s go and open it…

What’s this? A (cheeky πŸ˜‰ ) Recipe for a Christmas Cake!

✨Once again this year, I’ve had requests for my Vodka Christmas Cake recipe – so here it goes

Gather:
1 cup Sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup water
1 tsp. Salt
1 cup brown sugar
Lemon Juice
4 large Eggs
Nuts
1 bottle Vodka
2 cups dried fruit

Now let’s bake!

Sample a cup of Vodka to check quality!
Take a large bowl, check the Vodka again to be sure it is of the highest quality, repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer.
Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 tsp. of sugar. Beat again.
At this point it is best to make sure the Vodka is still ok. Try another cup, just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck in a cup of dried fruit.
Pick the fruit up off the floor, wash it and put in in the bowl a piece at a time, trying to count it!
Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the Vodka to test for tonsisticity.
Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something.
Check the Vodka.
Now shit shift the lemon juice and strain the nuts. Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, of somefing. Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don’t forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window.
Finish the Vodka and wipe the counter with the cat.

✨If you were looking for a new recipe…I’m sorry! But I hope you got a good laugh out of this, and that’s something, right?! πŸ€“

I made my Vodka Christmas Cake this morning, so now I need a nap! πŸ™ƒ

I hope you stop by again tomorrow! πŸ€—

Your Advent Calendar – Day 2 πŸŽ„

Hello my lovely friends πŸ₯°

Ready to open Door #2?

🎢🎢Oh, Christmas Tree🎢🎢

My little Winter Wonderland ☺️

And here’s something a little different*…

I’m trying really hard not to imagine the frustrations this installation will bring πŸ₯΄ and instead just focus on the beauty of this amazing decoration! πŸŽ„

Did you put your tree up yet? We always put up everything on Black Friday…instead of braving the crowds in the stores. 😁

I hope you’ll stop by tomorrow to open Door #3! πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Until then,

*I found this image on Instagram and no source was given. If you are, or know the patient soul that put this decoration up, please let me know so I can give credit!
