Crochet ~ Along Part IIIย

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• Here it is – the (overdue) Part III of the ‘Wallhanging CAL’

Have you been waiting for it? I’m so sorry that it took me ’til now to tell you how to go on. ๐Ÿ˜• Next time this happens (which I hope is never!) just yell holler at me. ๐Ÿ˜Š

So let’s hop on the CAL train ๐Ÿš‚ โฌ…๏ธ Ha… how cute is this?

Row 11 – The Tapestry Stitch

This one is really easy. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ It’s a great way to use and showcase the beautiful (and valuable) handspun yarn in your stash without breaking the bank. ๐Ÿ˜

Besides the handspun yarn I used some frizzy yarn (pick a thin yarn or you won’t be able to see the underlying one)

Now just work a row of double crochet stitches across, while guiding the spun yarn, and enclosing it in each dc.

Of course I forgot to take pictures…so I recreated the stitch on another piece (which has nothing to do with the CAL ๐Ÿ™‚)

Make a loop in the first stitch, position the spun yarn across your piece. For the first dc make sure that the yarn you work with is behind the stationary yarn. Yo, insert hook into the next stitch, finish your dc as usual.

Work all stitches very loosely because 1. the yarn is very thin, and 2. you don’t wanna ‘choke’ your pretty handspun yarn. ๐Ÿค“

Row 12 Dc in black

Row 13 – 18 – The Star Stitch

Each Star stitch row really consists of two rows, the ‘Star’ base and a row of hdc stitches. I used 3 different colors, but it’s also very beautiful in one color….that’s completely up to you of course ๐Ÿ˜

I found a great photo tutorial at ‘The Spruce’. She’s doing such a great job explaining this stitch that I, instead of copying her, just give you the link to her page. If you’ve never done this stitch or need a refresher ‘course’, click here ๐Ÿ˜ I hope you don’t mind! ๐Ÿ˜

Row 19 Dc in black

Row 20 Tapestry stitch – same colors as Row 11

Row 21 Dc in black

Row 22 Change color to turquoise. Ch3, *skip 2 stitches, Dc 3 in next stitch. Repeat from * to the end of the row. 1 dc in last stitch.

There…that’s it for Part III. You have my word that you’ll have the next part in front of you next week. ๐Ÿค“

If you missed the beginning, here is

Part I

and

Part II

Have you started yet? Let me know how far along you are already. ๐Ÿ˜Š Or do you plan to but get constantly interrupted? ๐Ÿ˜‹ What to do?

She’s โฌ‡๏ธ got it right ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks for visiting and reading ๐Ÿ’•

Ohhh…tomorrow is WIP Wednesday and I finally have something to show ya ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I hope you will be back to take a peek ๐Ÿ’œ

Small ~ Project ~ …day – A Vintage Camper Tea Cozy

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

In case you’re wondering about the in the title – this was supposed to be the Sunday post. But since the finishing touches on the project took a little longer than expected, and a Sunday – on a regular basis – has only 2 hours, 15 minutes in it, I’m late. ๐Ÿ˜•

So here we are – the ‘Small ~ Project ~ Sunday’ post on a Monday afternoon, finally finished and you can get ready for a new project….

This cozy is stitched entirely in Tunesian Stitch.

You’ll need 5 skeins of Cotton Yarn, worsted, medium (4) – (5 colors) ~ green (A), coral (B), mint green (C),
yellow (D), cream (E)

Hook Size 5mm (H)

Chain 45 in A

Rows 1 – 11 in A

Row 12 (cast off) in B

Rows 13 + 14 in B

Row 15 ~ 9 stitches in B (10 loops), 25 st in C, 10 st in B

Row 16 ~ cast off according to color sequence – When you get to the color transition while casting off (2 different color loops on the hook) always join the loops with the new color.

Row 17
8 cast on (9 loops) in B, 27 cast on in C, 9 cast on in B
Row 18 – and every even numbered row ~
repeat Row 16
Row 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29
7 cast on (8 loops) in B, 29 cast on in C, 8 cast on in B
Row 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41
7 cast on (8 loops) in B, 29 cast on in D, 8 cast on in B
7 cast on (8 loops) in B, 19 cast on in D, 8 cast on in E, 2 cast on in D, 8 cast on in B
Row 43 (Starting the Decrease)
work first cast on, work second and third together, 5 cast on (8 loops) in B,
27 cast on in D,
6 cast on in B, 7th + 8th cast on together, 1 cast on in B (8 loops)
Row 45
1 cast on, second + third tog, 5 cast on (8 loops) in B, 25 cast on in D,
6 cast on, 7th + 8th tog, 1 cast on in B
Row 47
1 cast on, second + third tog, 5 cast on (8 loops) in B, 23 cast on in D,
6 cast on, 7th + 8th tog, 1 cast on in B
Row 49, 51, 53
Continue to work in color B, and decrease at the beginning and end of the row as above.

This picture was the ‘first edition’ ๐Ÿ˜‰ The decrease is a bit wonky – I figured out how to do it right eventually, and the tire is on the wrong side ๐Ÿ˜œ….fixed as well.

Second Panel
As the first panel, but in Rows 31 – 41 work in a second ‘window’ by casting on
4 in D, 10 in E, 1 in D, 10 in E, 4 in D
The beginning and end of the rows in B is the same.

Wheels
Work 12 dc into a magic ring, then 2dc each into every space between the dcs

Finishing touches
Crochet 2 rows of ‘Star Stitch’ to one panel

connect the two panels with a slipstitch.
Outline the door, the windows, and the door with ‘Surface crochet’.
Stitch on the wheels.
To straighten the bottom edge (it was a bit curly) I attached a length of handspun wool to it, using the Tapestry Stitch

Done, done and done!!!! Woohoo!!!

A little note at the end
If you feel that I ‘overexplained’ things… I wanna apologize. I’ve encountered so many patterns that were very hard to ‘get’, that I had a hard time figuring out, and didn’t get right until I’ve tried multiple times, and then still had the feeling that I was ‘winging’ it. So I might have went overboard with my explanation – I really hope you don’t mind. ๐Ÿค—

If you need more pictures, please let me know. I’m a visual person so I understand.

So, what do you think?  Do you like this little project? Will you be making one? Maybe as a Christmas present? ๐ŸŽ
Please let me know! I am a curious one – I need to know everything things. ๐Ÿ˜‹

I hope you will join me next time! ๐Ÿ˜

Until then ๐Ÿ’•

‘Bohemian Oasis’ ~ The Crochet-Along Part II

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

Show of hands    ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป   Who has started this project? Are your squares done and joined?
If not – no worries, this will keep. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Once they’re joined you want to continue with a few rows of Offset-Filet-Net Stitch.
This stitch is a double crochet, worked into the spaces between the stitches of the former row, instead of the loops at the top.

I picked black as a separating color between the sections, because it serves as a ‘frame’ for each section. It separates colors you normally wouldn’t put next to each other, and makes them ‘go together’. And – I think – it adds a bit of a ‘dramatic’ flair to the piece. ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

Note: If you take a closer look at the picture you’ll see that I stitched the first and last dc of every row in black as well. You can save yourself that hassle    ๐Ÿ˜   My thought was to give the piece an instant border, in case you don’t want to add one at the end. Oooops ๐Ÿ˜ณ  it’ll definitely needs a separately stitched border.

Ready? Alright – here we go….

Row 1:
Attach your yarn to the corner space of the first square and work a dc.
One dc between the next 2 dc of the previous row. *One dc between the next 2 dc.
2 dc in ch1 space of the previous row. Continue from * to the last corner space. Place 1dc in that space.
2dc between the top 2 vertical stitches of the join, 2 dc in the space next to it.
Repeat for all squares and join rows.

Row 2 & 3
Attach a new color, and ch3. Work both rows in the Offset-Filet-Net Stitch.

Row 4
With black yarn work one row of Offset-Filet-Net Stitches.

Row 5  – The Bobble Stitch

A Bobble Stitch = 5dctog (5 double-crochet together) – yo, 1dc, yo, insert hook into designated stitch, yo, pull through stitch, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, repeat until you have 6 loops on your hook. Yo, pull yarn through all 6 loops. Chain 1.

Start this row by attaching a new yarn color.
1 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in 2nd stitch *1 Bobble, 3 sc, repeat from * to the end of the row. End with 2hdc

Row 6
2sc, *sc in eye of bobble, 3 sc, repeat from * to the end of the row.

Row  7
4 sc, *1 bobble (in the middle one of the 3sc of the previous row) 3sc. Repeat from *
End row with 4sc

Row 8
Repeat Row 6

Row 9
Repeat Row 5

Row 10
black dc across

I’m gonna stop this right now and  let you catch up ๐Ÿค“

I really, really hope that this makes sense to you – if not, just holler. I’m just a quick message away! ๐Ÿ“ฌ

Now have fun with your yarn and hook    ๐Ÿ˜ƒ   Play with your colors    ๐ŸŒˆ This is a great stashbuster, isn’t it?! ๐Ÿ˜

Next time we’ll use the Tapestry Stitch and the Star Stitch – that’s a great one….you’ll love it. Wanna see? Okay…here it is

Other than this…there’s not much going on here. Kind of a boring slow week ๐Ÿ˜œ
So I’ll let you go now. Take good care of yourself. ๐Ÿ’œ

Thanks for stopping by! ๐Ÿ˜

I hope to hear from you soon – let me know how far you’ve gotten with your ‘Bohemian Oasis’

Until then ๐Ÿ’•

And So it Begins ~ ‘Bohemian Oasis’ ย – A Boho Crochet-Along ๐Ÿ’œ

Hello my lovely friends  ๐Ÿ’• Are you ready for a new Crochet-Along? ๐Ÿ˜Š I’m so excited, and hope that you’ll have fun! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Since it’s not a ‘Mystery CAL’ I can tell you…we’re making a cozy blanket. An oasis for your living room – something to snuggle under in the colder months to come. It’s hard to imagine right now that I ever want to sit under a blanket, but it’s coming! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I will give you a few tips on how to change it into a shawl, a larger blanket, or even a Wallhanging. ๐Ÿ˜

But now…without further ado….here’s Part 1

(Please be patient with me ๐Ÿ˜Š this is my very first (own) crochet along…so if I stumble a bit, or am not clear on anything – give me a nudge ๐Ÿค— I think together we can make this a fabulous experience ๐Ÿ’œ)

It’s actually 32″ wide but in the full picture you couldn’t see the detail. ๐Ÿ˜

There was a lot of trial and error…translation – frogging ๐Ÿ˜„ But I ironed out the problems, and so far I’m pretty happy with it.

So today I’m going to show you how to crochet the ‘Flower Grannies’. They are your foundation.

There are 5, for a total width of 32″ (including the connection crochet) We’ll work a 3″ border around everything at the end for a total of 38″.

If you want to make a larger blanket just add more squares. I picked stitches that work with any number of foundation stitches. ๐Ÿค“

But first…the ‘Flower Granny’

Abbreviations:

htc = half treble crochet

tc = treble crochet

dc2tog = yo, insert hook in designated stitch, pull yarn through, yo, through 2 loops. Yo, insert hook into same stitch, pull through. Yo, pull through 2loops, yo, pull through remaining 3 loops.

1. Start with a Magic Ring. Ch3, yo, dc in the base of the chain. *Yo, dc2tog, ch1, dc2tog . Repeat from *four times = 6 petals. Fasten off

*Yo, dc2tog, ch1, dc2tog . Repeat from *four times = 6 petals. Close ring with a slipstitch. Fasten off

2. Connect your second color. Ch 3, dc in ch1 space at the base of the chain. Ch1, dc2tog in same space. Ch1. Work *dc2tog, ch1, dc2tog groups in each ch1 space.

I marked the placements with pins

Connect with a slipstitch.

3. Ch3, turn your work around, 2dc into space at the base of the chain. Ch 1. *Work 3dc into every ch1 space of the previous row

= 12 groups of 3. Connect with a slipstitch. Fasten off.

4. Connect your third color. Ch3, 2dc in space at the base of your chain. Ch 1, 3 dc into next ch1 space. Ch1 – now you’ll work the corner. 2 htr, 1tc, ch3, 1 tc, 2 hdc. *Ch1, 3dc in next ch1 space. Ch1, 3dc in next ch1 space. Ch1, crochet the corner. Repeat from *. End with a corner. Connect with a slipstitch, and fasten off.

Done! ๐Ÿ˜ Isn’t that a nice weekend project?

Then you want to connect them ๐Ÿ˜€ I picked this join stitch because it goes perfect with anything Granny Square, plus it aids in keeping the project ‘flowy’ ๐Ÿ˜Œ

I posted a tutorial for this join stitch a few weeks ago…you can find it here ๐Ÿ™‚

I honestly hope you like the project I picked for us ๐Ÿค— Please holler if you have any questions or concerns! I’m always just a quick message away ๐Ÿ˜˜

Let me know what you think about this project! Will you join in? ๐Ÿ’œ That would be pretty awesome!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a few ‘Weekend Chuckles’…I did find some good ones! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Until then ๐Ÿ’•

My Crochet~Alongs – Past and Future ๐Ÿ”ฎ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• How wonderful to see you!

Soooooo…..this just happened

 No worries…it was intentional ๐Ÿ˜

It’s the result of me giving up on the ‘Crochet Along’ I started last week. It was just too boring๐Ÿ˜ด I didn’t feel inspired at all…every time I looked at it and contemplated doing a few rounds…I found something else to do. ๐Ÿ˜• I had a few talks with myself…not out loud – at least I don’t think so ๐Ÿ˜œ ….trying to convince myself that it’s the first CAL for me, that maybe my expectations were too high.

So I set it aside – in a different room…that should’ve told me something ๐Ÿ˜ – saying ‘it’s too hot to be sitting under a ever growing blanket. A-huh ~ sure! That’s what it is.

Now I’m curious….did you ever get all excited about a project only to realize that it’s not that great? Did you abandon it for ‘greener pastures’ or did you power through? ๐Ÿ™‚

What brought me to the ‘official’ abandonment of this project was yesterday’s post from Robin from Imperial Crochet – and seeing that she had the same problem. That’s when I finally admitted that this CAL is not going to happen for me.

Life is too short to be bored by a project ๐Ÿ˜Š weaving in ends is bad enough ๐Ÿ™„

But three positives came out of this experience ๐Ÿ˜€

1. I now know how to do the Tapestry Stitch

2. I have 2 pounds of pretty yarn in pretty colors to make something lovely with

3. This is where we come to the ‘CAL future’ mentioned in the title! I’m now inspired to hold my own Crochet Along…built from the expectations I had for the failed one. ๐Ÿค“

I have a lot of ideas, and already started on it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ It’s gonna be a wild one, because this wee one made an appearance and it looks like she’s here to stay ๐Ÿ’œ

I plan to post more about my CAL very soon ๐Ÿ˜ I’m really excited and ready to rumble! ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks so much for visiting and reading all the great way down to here ๐Ÿค—

I hope you will join me tomorrow for ‘Work ~ in ~ Progress Wednesday’ ๐ŸŒบ

Until then ๐Ÿ’•

Work~in~Progress Wednesday ๐ŸŒบ A Pinwheel, Hydrangeas, and two scarvesย

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• It’s always fabulous to see you here!

I have a few projects on various hooks these days ๐Ÿ˜Ž

If you saw yesterday’s post you already know a little bit about the Hydrangea blossoms, and how a little spark of an idea, a hook and some yarn turned into these…

Part of the idea was to turn them – and many more like it – into a Boho purse. Yesterday I wasn’t sure how to accomplish that. —-> see yesterday’s post for the ways I considered. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well, now I’m one step closer – this is how it’s gonna be

I’ll sew them onto a felted wool-sweater, and add a handle

What do you think? Looks like it’s gonna be fabulous, doesn’t it?

It’s a bit difficult to think of scarfs and wraps right now – but nevertheless, I persisted! ๐Ÿ˜‹

I have two to show ya….

1.

Inspired by my ‘New Stitch Sunday’ post ๐Ÿ˜

2.

And this one is pretty much done….I just have to secure the “yarn tails”.  ๐Ÿ˜•

I love how this one turned out. The cool thing is, it kinda designed itself while I was crocheting. Every time I got to the end of a segment, I remembered a certain yarn from my stash….and wouldn’t you know it – it was always the perfect one. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

๐Ÿ’œ See little Eddie hanging out under the couch? Right in the path of the AC flow. Smart dog! ๐Ÿ˜

Speaking of Yarn-Tails. Don’t you hate the dreaded little things that always seem to double the time it takes to finish a project! ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

The stack of Flower-Squares is growing….maybe I should sew in some tails now…before I make more?! When do you deal with them? As you go or at the end?

And then….the “Yarnspiration” Crochet Along ๐Ÿ˜ I started that this morning, so there’s not much to show you yet

It’ll be a ‘Pinwheel Blanket’ – so far I’m pretty happy with it. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’d like to tell you more about it….the difficult color choice ๐Ÿ˜‰ my ‘brain fart’ moment ๐Ÿ˜‚            How about we do that tomorrow? And then we can also look at the pattern together! ๐Ÿค—

Alrighty! It’s a date! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

As always I’m looking forward to chatting with you! ๐Ÿ’œ Tag…you’re it! ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks for visiting! I’ll see ya tomorrow!

Until then ๐Ÿ’•
