Whatโ€™s New You Ask? Okay, Iโ€™ll Tell Ya ๐Ÿ˜

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

How are you on this fine day? And a fine day it is! ๐ŸŒž What a difference 40 degrees make! ๐Ÿ˜œ

I already walked the dogs, so I can chat with you without getting interrupted ๐Ÿ˜

I hope I won’t bore you too much (or, preferably, not at all ๐Ÿ˜Š) but today’s post is a ‘sorting my thoughts, WIPs, ideas’ kinda deal.

Do you ever have so many things swirling around in your head that you, in the end, don’t do any of them? But instead crochet Granny Squares that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with anything? Show of hands please ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Yep, this happened last night ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

And since there’s a Meme for everything…๐Ÿ˜

But – today’s another day, and, hopefully, this will help me get everything organized! ๐Ÿค“ Thanks for letting me bend your ear! ๐Ÿ˜˜ Ear? Eyes? Hmm…you know what I mean!

So here’s everything in a nutshell…

First some things that actually did get done…

I finished another purse…well, I still have to sew in the lining

Things I learned while making the purse:
1. Pay attention to what you’re doing! Trying to solve a murder alongside “Monk” while crocheting the base, will lead to a tote, not a purse! ๐Ÿ˜‹
2. One skein of (gorgeous, beautiful) handspun yarn (72 yards) is just barely enough for 4 rounds! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
3. I love the “Bobble Stitch”! ๐Ÿ˜

This next one made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
I made a Puzzle Poncho for my lovely friend Lili

And these are some of the things that are swirling…

The ‘ Puzzle Sweater’ is coming along quite nicely – of course, now that it’s getting warmer ๐Ÿ˜…

Since my waist is nowhere near her’s, I will have to finish it away from the Mannequin ๐Ÿ˜„

The start of a new poncho…

Last week I came across thisย ย ย โฌ‡๏ธ on Facebook.ย I got all swooney, thinking they’re gorgeous Agate slices. Nope – they’re Puzzles. How cool is that?!

And then my ‘Crochet Brain’ kicked in, and I thought “This design would make a beautiful blanket”! Can you see it?
So I got started on that – different ideas came to life

img_3796

Or maybe a pillow? Or a Purse? I’m still mulling it over.

Aaaand last but not least I now also have to figure out what I’m going to do with the Granny Squares from last night! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Oh….one more thing! Since I even skipped ‘Your Weekend Chuckle’ last weekend – here’s my favorite one! I don’t know why, but it made me laugh ’til I cried

img_3768

Okay – now I’ll get off my soapbox, and let you carry on with your life!

I’m sending Smilesย ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugsย ๐Ÿค— and Loveย ๐Ÿ’• your way!

DIY – Design your own necklace

Last week I taught one of my jewelry making classes. Everyone had a blast and loved the end-result! One of the reasons, besides the pride and joy of finishing a piece of wearable art, was the fact that the girls could design their own, pick their favorite charms and beads and incorporate these ideas.
So I decided to spread the joy even further ย ๐Ÿค— ย  with this post and the kits I created that I will offer on my website.

Here you go ….
Necklace ~’Free Your Creative Spirit’ย

Materials:
1 Earring Loop
1 larger charm (to fit inside the loop)
various charms and beads (for dangles)
Head- and Eyepins
oval jumprings (number depends on the number of dangles you create; I made 5)
1 – 10mm jumpring
40″ cord (I use faux suede)
small link chain
3 – 14mm wood beads

1 }ย  Look over your bead and charm selection, and decide on the design.
Thread the beads onto the pins; take a chain link and attach it to the charms.
Move it around until you are happy with the layout ย ๐Ÿ˜€ ย  ย ~ and remember – nothing is permanent…you can always change it later (Now my mantra, by the way ย  ๐Ÿ˜Š ย Many a times I’ve stood in my own way, getting stuck at this stage, afraid to get startedย ย ย ย  )

2} Now, using your round-nose pliers, form wrapped loops – either connect it to the loop of another pin, or use a chain-link to connect the two.

3} If you’re happy with the individual length of the dangles skip this step…if not, read on
3.1) decide on your desired length and attach lengths of chain to your bead/charm

4} Design your focal with the earring hoop and a charm

…and attach the charm to the hoop.

5} Use one chain-link to connect the hoop to the 10mm Jumpring, fold the cord in half, thread the cord through the jumpring, and form a lark’s head knot.

6}
Use the oval jumprings to attach the dangles to the loop

7} Now it’s time to finish up your necklace – the closure doo-hickey ๐Ÿ˜
Get 1 wood bead and thread the ends of the cord through the hole – one from the right, one from the left
img_0623
Thread a wood bead on either end, form an overhand knot – and you’re done. The length is now adjustable

…and you’re done!
Mine looks like this…

I’d love to see pictures of your finished piece!
I hope you had fun…Keep on beading!
