What Book Is In That Pretty Bag?

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

I am really looking forward to your answer to this question – if you would gift your favorite book, which one will be hidden in that lovely gift-bag?

Now you’re probably wondering “What brought this on?” πŸ€”

Well, it was this meme…

I think that’s a marvelous idea! 😍 It would really get you to know your friends better, and expand your mind, regarding books and authors. πŸ€“

So what would spill out of that pretty bag you brought?

I would gift you the little gem Unsuitable for Ladies – An Anthology of Women Travellers by Jane Robinson.

In this little book you’ll find the adventures of almost 200 women who defied convention, and proved to the world that the notion “Real Ladies do not travel” is nothing but a myth! 😎

You’ll accompany these wonderful ladies around the globe, taking part in their amusing and thrilling travels.

Okay, now it’s your turn 😁 I’m looking forward to ‘unwrapping’ your favorite book! πŸ’•

I would go with Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. It’s a YA book, but I still enjoy it and I think you would too.

Asking me what my favorite book is like asking me what my favorite song or favorite movie is. It’s impossible to answer, there isn’t just one! LOL But if forced to pick just one, I would just have to pick Mermaidsong by Alida Van Gore.
It’s a paperback I picked up in a library paperback rack when I was 19 or 20. I was visiting family out of state and needed something to read. I have always loved mermaids and the cover looked lovely. I loved the book so much, I thought I could look for it at my own library or even buy it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find it again. Even when I returned to that same library on another visit, they didn’t have any record of it. They said paperbacks weren’t even cataloged because they didn’t last. It was probably just thrown away when it became worn. To make a long story longer, that started my quest to find the book. Eventually, the internet came to my rescue, something new call ebay (I am so dating myself!) helped me. I found the book and paid $20 for a beat up paperback! That was a lot for a paperback back then but I wanted it so badly. I was so happy too. I still loved the story and I have since gotten a better paperback copy that I keep on my shelf. The internet has also helped me get more information on the author as I was hoping to find sequels. The author only wrote that one book as she was a television writer and wrote the book during a writers strike that think happened in the 80’s.
I love this book so much, I even wrote a post about it awhile back. If you’re curious about my obsession, here it is. πŸ€ͺ
