Your Weekend Chuckle πŸ˜…

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Thank you so much for peeking in! 😍

Warning: Continuing may result in bursts of laughter…look around make sure you’re alone 😜

And this, my dear friends, is what we call ‘Schadenfreude’ πŸ˜‰

Most definitely! πŸ˜‰

There are photos 😝

Hubby tried it yesterday….it works! πŸ˜‚

Poor guy 😜

Alrighty….that’s all for today πŸ€“ I hope this tickled a giggle or two out of ya 😊

Have a fabulous weekend 😎 I’ll see you in October 🍁

Until then πŸ’•

Blankets, Blooms, and Other Random ThingsΒ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

First of all…Happy Monday! 😎

It may not be perfect

…but at least you’re not that guy 😜

Now I wanna show you a few pictures, and tell you about my weekend 😊

Saturday was our ‘Citywide Yardsale Day’ πŸ˜ƒ There were a lot of little flags on the yard sale map…it looked promising.

My daughter is accessorising her new house, so she was in. 😁 We took off bright and early, and were not disappointed!

Do you know the easiest, fastest (and cheapest πŸ˜‰) way to get your hands on a ‘Granny Square’ blanket?

You find a person that doesn’t care about any of that, and sells you one for $ 2 (two) 😜

Talk about a lucky find! She also sold me the other one in the picture for $2 😍

I asked her if she knew anything about them, but all she could tell me was that she found them in an old trunk she discovered in the basement of the foreclosed home she bought “as is”.

They were a bit dusty, but 2 cycles in the wash (last one with Lysol – you never know πŸ˜‰) and the colors pop again. πŸ™‚

As we were out and about we stopped at a State Park with an amazing view over the Missouri River into Missouri…I think our little corner of the world is quite pretty 😎

Back home I washed my treasures, and as I hung them out to dry I noticed that some of my flowers gathered some strength for summer’s last ‘Hurrah’

The blanket in the background ⬆️ is another Yard Sale beauty 😁

Sometimes when my brain seems to be on overload….in Lorelai Gilmore fashion ‘Monkey, Monkey, Underpants’ πŸ˜† …. I like to sit outside, and just watch the bees, the flowers, and the clouds 😊

Other people get Angels….I get Daffy Duck πŸ˜†

Aaaaand…..poof….the weekend was over – but that’s ok. 😁 Every new week brings new possibilities and ideas and ways to make new memories. 😊

I hope you have an amazing week, and am sending you Love, Hugs, and Smiles πŸ’•

Your Weekend Chuckle πŸ˜Ή

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

I can’t believe it’s already Sunday afternoon 😳 Man, this week has just flown by.

If you need some cheering up… I think I can help 😁

There is a chance that you come across something that’s just not funny….then please remember that I had to get up 4 times last night to take our little, queasy Lorelai outside. πŸ˜– So my judgement may have been compromised 😝

Lorelai is all better now…catching up on her sleep πŸ˜†

Alrighty – here we go….hoping for the best 😁

1. Best photobomb ever πŸ˜‚ The Dad told the little girl to say ‘Cheeeese’….

Oh boy 😳 I hope they fixed this fast…

We made it…again! 😝

Is it lunchtime yet?

That’s it for today… I hope you giggled a little bit 😎

Now lunch, then maybe a little nap….it’s a full day. πŸ˜›

I hope you’re having a fabulous Sunday…thanks for giving me a few minutes of your time! 😍

Sending Love, Hugs, and Smiles to you πŸ’•

Baking, Books, and a Few Random Things

Hello my lovely friends  πŸ’• I hope you’re having a great Monday! πŸ˜ƒ  No…I’m not being sarcastic – I really mean it.

But – just in case you need a little pick-me-up…here’s a little penguin doing the splits

Feel better? 😍 Ready for some shenanigans? πŸ˜‰

Here we go…

   1. This past weekend Tracy @ It’s a T-Sweets Day hosted another ‘Fantastic Bake-Along’. πŸ˜ƒ
This month’s recipe was generously shared by Kate @ Life, Tea and Everything
She made some scrumptious cookies from a recipe her beloved Grandma used to spoil her loved ones.

I did not participate this month, because cookies in the house result in my eating every single one, which results in pants not fitting (true story!  πŸ˜œ ) which results in having to buy new pants…which I hate.  So I just enjoyed dreaming about the deliciousness, while reading the recipe  πŸ€” I hope you will make some, and let me know how you liked them.

Here’s the wonderful recipe

Grandma Thompson’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup shortening
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup boiling water
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts
6 oz chocolate chips

Important: Follow recipe closely as results depend greatly on order of addition of ingredients!

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Beat shortening, sugars, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour and salt. Mix well. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water. Add to flour mixture. Stir in rolled oats, nuts, and chocolate chips.

Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Flatten with fork dipped in cold water.

Bake 10-12 minutes. Makes approximately 7 dozen.

Thanks again to Tracy @ It’s a T-Sweets Day  for hosting this great event every month. If you like to join

Tami @ Tanglewood Knots

and other great bloggers in the Bake-Along just go to Tracy’s page, let her know, and she’ll include you in her list of bakers. I’m looking forward to future Bake-Alongs and hope you will join us.

     2. Books – Lately I’m having a really hard time finding books that grab (and hold) my interest. Especially new books in series I used to love are, more often than not, sleep aides. πŸ˜• Did you notice that too? Or am I becoming ornery? πŸ€“

A few weeks ago I did find a new (to me) series that I love. I read book 1 – 3 in less than 2 weeks. On some nights they kept me up longer than is good for me. πŸ˜›

If you’re interested – the series is called ‘The Southern Ghost Hunter Series‘* by Angie Fox. If you don’t mind spooky, ghostly appearances you should give it a try. ☺️ The characters are very likable, the ghosts not too terribly scary, and it’s set in the beautiful South.

I held off on book 4 only because I found a book by one of my favorite authors at a booksale. Somehow it had slipped through my radar…I hadn’t read it yet.

Aaaaaaand …. I didn’t finish it. I’m not going to name author or title – but, oh boy, what a doozy. Repeating paragraphs – once or twice I thought I had lost my page because the same sentences kept appearing 😳 and booooring. 😴

I didn’t even skip to the end to find out who the killer was…’cause I’m convinced the ‘victim’ didn’t actually die. He faked his death to get out of this story. πŸ˜‰

Now off to some ghost hunting…Book 4 is waiting. 😁

    3.  ‘Feronia’ the Poncho is (almost) finished 😍

I got a little carried away crocheting the squares, so it’s a bit too long…see

I’m horrible at ‘Selfie-taking’ πŸ˜† but you get the idea

I actually had to add a wide border to the neckline so it wouldn’t slide down, and pool by my feet πŸ˜›

Then I added ‘Picots’ to the neckline and bottom edge – Thank you, Tracy, for the idea πŸ’•

…a drawstring….just in case πŸ˜‰ – and tassels

Now I just gotta weave in the ends 😐 and I’m done!

    4. I started another Poncho – this time I’m keeping the squares smaller. As soon as that one is done, and actual Poncho length, I’ll write out the pattern and share it with you. πŸ€—

   5. I did do some baking yesterday. Usually I bake a raisin bread on Sundays…for a quick breakfast during the week. We did get a little tired of it, so I thought something different is in order. From time to time I like to experiment in the kitchen – so- inspired by my favorite chocolate- I made a Chili/Chocolate Chip bread. 😁

And it’s awesome (if I may say so myself…but hubby thinks so too πŸ˜‹) You don’t taste the Chili at first, just the chocolate, but it leaves kind of a pepper-y aftertaste.

I will share the recipe within the next few days. πŸ€“

   6. I mentioned yesterday that I’m going shopping – for more yarn 😜 It was quite a successful trip

And that is all for today 😊 Thank you so much for visiting and reading all the way down to here 😘

I’m sending you Love, Hugs, and Smiles πŸ’•

* I am not affiliated with the author/publisher/product mentioned here ☺️ I just really like the books and the yarn.

Good morning πŸ’œ

I’m off to buy more yarn 😜 then later I’ll be back for the ‘Fantastic Bake Along’ 😁 I hope you’ll peek in again πŸ€—

Until then πŸ’•

Your Weekend Chuckle πŸ€“

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• I hope your weekend is off to a good start 😎My Saturday is turning out to be quite wonderful 😍 I woke up in time to see the sun come up, had a nice walk with the dogs (after coffee of course 😜), went to a bridal shower for a lovely girl getting married next month, and now I’m sitting here chuckling over some pictures, and hoping you’ll laugh with me. 😊

I always wonder about them 😜

Me in every photo 😁

Did you miss out? 😜

Taking annoying to the next level πŸ˜›

I hope you enjoyed these little gems 😁

Sending Love and Hugs and Smiles your way πŸ€—

Take good care of yourself 😘

This’ll only take a second… πŸ™‚

…okay, maybe 2…or 5 πŸ˜‰

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’•

I’m very sorry, I didn’t mean to make you sad…

Let me fix that real quick 😍

I hope this helped 😁

WIP ~ Wednesday – 2 Ponchos, a Cardigan, and a QuestionΒ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Told ya I’d have something to show you today 😁 I’m a bit late…but at least it’s still Wednesday πŸ˜‰ I spent the day with my daughter – she had a -rare- day off, and I took advantage of that. 😍

So here’s what I got today…

1. Remember The Granny Square Cardigan? It was almost finished, just needed the ends woven in, when I decided I didn’t like the sleeves. They were very stiff – and looked it – and a tad too tight. Well, I finally got around to making new ones…well one πŸ˜‹ But I like it so much better that the second one won’t be too far behind.

But look for yourself…

I’d say it’s a good match. 😊

First I wanted to add some surface crochet ( tested it with a length of chain stitches)

…but I decided against it. πŸ€“

2. Poncho ‘Feronia’

Feronia is the name of an Autumn Goddess. Her festival, the Feroniae, was held on November 13th when the first fruits of the harvest were offered to her to ensure a bountiful crop the following year.
The colors remind me of Fall…so this Poncho really deserves the name. Don’t you think? πŸ™‚

3. Poncho ‘Maia’ – you saw this one last week. I decided to go with the flowers, and am now crocheting more of them for the other side.

The lovely Tami from Tanglewood Knots noticed that the green looks like the foliage of the flowers 😍 So the mismatched green spot is good for something πŸ˜‰

This one got it’s name from ‘Maia‘, a greek Spring Goddess. And since the colors and flowers are very ‘spring-y’ it’s only fitting. 😊

4. The Flower Blanket

Still making flowers for this one – actually I do have a bit more done than what it shows here…but the light is fading so I can’t get a good photo πŸ˜•

Now to the ‘question‘ part  πŸ˜

Let me start by saying that I have the sneaking suspicion that I will be crocheting for a long time to come, and I can’t possibly wear/store everything I’m making πŸ€“ And I know many of you are working hard at creating beautiful things.

So my question is – Do you have an online store? If yes – where? Etsy? Shopify? Somewhere else? Any suggestions, recommendations, tips? Anything you got is greatly appreciated! Thank you! πŸ€—

Alrighty…dinner time! 😁 Thanks for stopping in and reading aaaaallll the way down to here πŸ™‚

I hope to see you again soon!

Until then πŸ’•

Crochet ~ Along Part IIIΒ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Here it is – the (overdue) Part III of the ‘Wallhanging CAL’

Have you been waiting for it? I’m so sorry that it took me ’til now to tell you how to go on. πŸ˜• Next time this happens (which I hope is never!) just yell holler at me. 😊

So let’s hop on the CAL train πŸš‚ ⬅️ Ha… how cute is this?

Row 11 – The Tapestry Stitch

This one is really easy. πŸ˜ƒ It’s a great way to use and showcase the beautiful (and valuable) handspun yarn in your stash without breaking the bank. 😍

Besides the handspun yarn I used some frizzy yarn (pick a thin yarn or you won’t be able to see the underlying one)

Now just work a row of double crochet stitches across, while guiding the spun yarn, and enclosing it in each dc.

Of course I forgot to take pictures…so I recreated the stitch on another piece (which has nothing to do with the CAL πŸ™‚)

Make a loop in the first stitch, position the spun yarn across your piece. For the first dc make sure that the yarn you work with is behind the stationary yarn. Yo, insert hook into the next stitch, finish your dc as usual.

Work all stitches very loosely because 1. the yarn is very thin, and 2. you don’t wanna ‘choke’ your pretty handspun yarn. πŸ€“

Row 12 Dc in black

Row 13 – 18 – The Star Stitch

Each Star stitch row really consists of two rows, the ‘Star’ base and a row of hdc stitches. I used 3 different colors, but it’s also very beautiful in one color….that’s completely up to you of course 😁

I found a great photo tutorial at ‘The Spruce’. She’s doing such a great job explaining this stitch that I, instead of copying her, just give you the link to her page. If you’ve never done this stitch or need a refresher ‘course’, click here πŸ˜ I hope you don’t mind! 😍

Row 19 Dc in black

Row 20 Tapestry stitch – same colors as Row 11

Row 21 Dc in black

Row 22 Change color to turquoise. Ch3, *skip 2 stitches, Dc 3 in next stitch. Repeat from * to the end of the row. 1 dc in last stitch.

There…that’s it for Part III. You have my word that you’ll have the next part in front of you next week. πŸ€“

If you missed the beginning, here is

Part I

Part II

Have you started yet? Let me know how far along you are already. 😊 Or do you plan to but get constantly interrupted? πŸ˜‹ What to do?

She’s ⬇️ got it right 🀣

Thanks for visiting and reading πŸ’•

Ohhh…tomorrow is WIP Wednesday and I finally have something to show ya 😎

I hope you will be back to take a peek πŸ’œ
