WIP ~ Wednesday – Something Old, Something New…but nothing Blue πŸ˜

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Thanks for peeking in πŸ˜ƒ

For this week’s WIP Wednesday I had a nice a list of projects πŸ€“

But – as it happens so often- the best laid out plans are ruined by…well, life. πŸ™ƒ

I spent a lot of time frogging πŸ˜• and cleaning up flood waters. Ugh

My little store flooded during the night, from Monday into Tuesday. Thankfully it was just rainwater. Two years ago the water came from the side facing the parking lot, so – once the foot of water cleared out- we had about 2″ of sticky mud to deal with. 😫 I had a lot of friends and lovely customers lending a helping hand…that made things much better, easier to deal with. 😍

Anyway…this time it was only 1″ of water…and no mud! Yay! πŸ˜€ Again…wonderful friends helped, and now we’re waiting for the rugs to dry out back. Until then everything inside is topsy-turvy and still a bit damp.

See…

Okay…now let’s talk (and look at) wip projects – ’cause that’s why you’re here 😊

1. The Granny Square Cardigan

I decided I wanna re-do the sleeves. Right now they’re too tight and stiff – they don’t really go with the flow of the cardigan. I should get to that asap, since it looks like I’m gonna need it soon. πŸπŸŽƒπŸ

2. The Poncho

That’s turning into the never-ending project πŸ˜• I still have to attach most of the fringe. Again…time is of the essence. If I don’t finish this thing soon, it’ll never get done. It’s been waaay too long already.

3. The ‘Cupcake’ Something 😜

This turned into the problem child of the week. You wouldn’t think so, because it’s so small, but this thing kept me occupied all weekend 😫 I should’ve just frogged it, and forget about it…but I had to make it work! Do you know that feeling?

It started with an idea, didn’t seem too hard. A delicious cupcake, a nice background to be used as kitchen-Deco, or – with cotton yarn, a dishcloth or potholder (layered).

So I picked the yarn, and went to work. Tunesian stitch…one of my favorites πŸ˜€

Bing..bang..boom – done! Or so I thought…when I pinned it to block it…I was like ‘oh, no, no, no, no’ 😳

It probably has something to do with recent events, but I knew I would not want it like this in my house. πŸ˜”

So – frogging. First only the ‘icing’ and the turquoise top-half. I redid the ‘icing’, without a background, that looked weird, so I played with that….not great

  Pfffft πŸ˜–
I was tired of frogging, so I started over. Still more trial and error than it’s worth. The edges didn’t cooperate, the angles were all wrong….but I think I got it now.

I might make another one, ’cause I do really like it and it’s really not that hard 😜…I’ll write it down and share it with you.

4. The Blanket

One more thing – real quick πŸ€“

I want to make a blanket for the colder months ahead. I picked a supercute pattern, pretty yarn, and started (between ‘Cupcake’ disasters) 😁

  Cute, right? πŸ’œ
It’s a simple pattern, a bit time consuming because the rows of the triangles involved are stitched separately. Yep…one by one. Lots of ends to weave in. πŸ˜‰ After that, the border is just Granny Square stitches all around. Let’s just say, a ‘ch1’, between dc clusters would not be a waste of time or yarn. πŸ˜• The thing was all wavy, not even blocking could safe it. So…you guessed it – more frogging. I tried to take the triangles off in one piece, because, hey, that was a lot of work. πŸ˜‚

I kept the middle square, and now I’ll make a Patchwork Blanket with various yarns. I’m working on some ‘Magic Yarnballs’ to bring in some crazy patches.

So…that was my week 😁 I trust that yours was better! πŸ€—

I hope I wasn’t too whine-y. ☺️ Let’s raise our glasses and drink to a more successful tomorrow 🍾πŸ₯‚

Do you have stories of never-ending crochet disasters? Let’s hear them! πŸ™‚

Now it’s almost bedtime ☺️ I’ll be back tomorrow with some pretty pictures (hint ~ fairies and glitter, and trees, and a little surprise….I hope you’re ready 😝)

Until then πŸ’•

Thanks so much, Yolanda 😊 Now that I’ve had some distance I like it too 😝 I will make another one and write down the process for ‘Small Project Sunday’
The store is all dry – thanks for the good vibes 😍
The rugs are still a bit damp, but by this Saturday everything should be back in place πŸ˜ƒ

Oh no, what a shame about the flooding. Fingers crossed it dries quickly. Your projects are fab, I bet you’ve learned loads from the frogging and experimenting.

What a gorgeous blanket! I really hate ends, but I’m still tempted because it just looks so cool!
I’ve never tried anything as fancy as your cupcake without a pattern, so I don’t have any stories like that. Maybe one day when I get a bit braver I’ll try to create something entirely new πŸ™‚

I do love the blanket 😍 Now that I’ve had some distance – and figured out the mistake (ch 1 between the 3dc clusters in the borders) I might try again. The ends are not so bad as long as you weave them in as you go 😁 It’s time consuming, but the result is definitely worth it. I hope to see it on your blog soon 😊
When you do start your own design – always remember…nothing is set in stone 😊 Yes, frogging is frustrating, but in the end all you’ve lost is a bit of time. I learned that when I made jewelry…once you make that your attitude, ideas will flow πŸ˜€ And have fun! πŸ’•

The cupcake is super cute! “I HAD to make it work” is one of my mantras!! LOL. Sometimes it seems that when nothing seems to be working it just makes me more obsessed with making it work! πŸ˜€
Hope everything is all dry and it’s back to business as usual in your shop! πŸ˜€
