๐Ÿ’ฅWIP ๐Ÿ’ฅ Wednesday ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• Happy Hump-Day …well, I hope you had a happy one ๐Ÿค“ I’m almost too late (again) with my WIP post. I have to stop starting a project in the morning – so I have something to show you – and then not finish ’til it’s done ๐Ÿ˜œ

The idea for this brand-new project came to me last night while I was making dinner. I was browning meat, and walked away with ‘Grease Splatter Freckles’ on my hand and wrist…that happens a lot ๐Ÿ˜•

My oven mitt is so bulky that I can’t really get a good grip on my spatula. That got me thinking of this…

   <–Front           Back –>
I love Folk-Art – so, of course- it had to be the house ๐Ÿ˜ƒ All that’s left now are the outlines of the windows and the door.

I tried it tonight…and it does work ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Of course I forgot to take a dinner picture – so I took one while making some scrambled eggs for the dogs ๐Ÿ˜

Not the greatest picture, but you get the idea ๐Ÿ˜Š

It can also be a “hideaway” for your dish soap, oil – or vinegar bottle, etc ๐Ÿ˜

What do you think? Is this anything you would use? Please let me know ๐Ÿค“

Now that autumn is right around the corner I’m always on the lookout for more Sweater/Poncho/Scarf Yarn. So I was thrilled to find this here in our Walmart*

It is 100% Acrylic ๐Ÿ˜• Not necessarily my favorite…but it’s supersoft and comes in really nice color combos

I bought two each of my favorite colors – not an easy decision let me tell you ๐Ÿ˜‹ and started the first poncho panel. I’m using the Granny Square stitch, so it went pretty fast. One ball is enough for one panel. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I did play some ‘Yarn Chicken’ ….and lost

Oh well, I wasn’t too thrilled anyway when the turquoise/blue turned into green – not the best color/combo (in my opinion) ๐Ÿ˜‰

See… ๐Ÿ˜‘

These are the latest projects. You already know all the other ones…and I’m afraid there’s not much happening in that department ๐Ÿ˜…

Since it’s going on 8 – I’ll let you get back to what you were doing ๐Ÿ˜Š Bye for now

Take care ๐Ÿ’•

Live ๐ŸŒˆ Laugh ๐Ÿ˜น Love ๐Ÿ’œ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• How wonderful of you to peek in ๐Ÿ‘€

I can’t really think of a proper opening sentence for this post – the title really says it all ๐Ÿค“

So…without further ado…here’s Live – Laugh – Love ๐Ÿ’œ

โœจLive โœจ

As the years go by, I realize that ‘living’ is not in the Party-Weekends (even though they were pretty awesome ๐Ÿ˜œ) – it is more in the little, everyday things.

Like Danny Kaye said – “Life is a great, big canvas; throw all the paint at it you can” ๐Ÿ˜

 I have this wonderful book…

It sits on the coffee table, and just looking at it reminds me that life is good. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The author spend 50 years collecting ‘Happy Moments’, and I’m so glad she decided to write them all down….things like a buzzing bumblebee, the library, the smell of northern air, BLTs, falling leaves, children singing, a pink daisy, and so on. Isn’t it wonderful? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I just leave this here…๐Ÿ˜‚

There is a chance that I laughed a lot harder at this than I should have ๐Ÿ˜

Love and friendship can get you through pretty much everything, don’t you think? ๐Ÿค—

The amazing Tami at Tanglewood Knots wrote this beautiful poem ๐Ÿ’œ It makes my heart smile

A Friendship Fairy
A Friendship Fairy touched my cheek

Her wings the brightest blue

Like dew drops kissed by sunshine

The loveliest of hues.

She beckoned me to follow her

To a special place she knew

Where like flowers in a garden

The kindest people grew.

We danced across the ocean waves

Both laughing as we flew

And when we landed, to my delight

Sheโ€™d brought me straight to you!

I leave you with this now…won’t babble on ๐Ÿ˜‰…let you enjoy it a bit more

Smiles, love and hugs to you all ๐Ÿ’•

The Rainbow ~ Cupcake ๐ŸŒˆ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• And here – as promised – are the instructions for the ‘Cupcake’  Dishcloth/Potholder/Kitchen Deco ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I did manage to remember the basics – so ‘re-creating’ it was easy- peasy ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Here’s what you need:

~ Cotton yarn in pink (A), cream or tan (B), Rainbow (C), variegated (D)

~ a little bit of red and green yarn

Got it? Okay…here we go

Rows 1 – 24, are crocheted in Tunesian Stitch

All even numbered rows are stitched in ‘their’ color, as they appear. When you get to the color transfer (2 different color loops on the hook) always cast-off with the ‘new’ color.

Abbreviations: ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet,

Ch 29

Rows 1 – 4 Tunesian Stitch in A

Row 5 – 6 st (7 loops) in A, 15 st in B, 7 st in A

Row 7 Repeat Row 5

Row 9 – 5st (6 loops) in A, 17 st in B, 6 st in A

Row 11 Repeat Row 9

Row 13 – 4 st (5 loops) in A, 19 st in B, 5 st in A

Row 15 Repeat Row 13

Row 17 – 3 st (4 loops) in A, 21 st in B, 4 st in A

Row 19 Repeat Row 17

Row 21 Stitch 2 bars together (2 loops on hook) in A, 23 st in B, 2 tog, 1 st in B

Row 23 1 st (2 loops) in A, 23 st in B, 2 st in A

Fasten off all yarn after Row 24

Make a standing dc (or ch3) in the space between the first two stitches made in B using the Rainbow Yarn (C)

Make one ‘Bobble Stitch’

๐Ÿ’ฅA Bobble Stitch = 5dctog (5 double-crochet together) – yo, 1dc, yo, insert hook into designated stitch, yo, pull through stitch, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, repeat until you have 6 loops on your hook. Yo, pull yarn through all 6 loops. Chain 1.๐Ÿ’ฅ
*Skip two spaces, make one Bobble Stitch. Repeat from * until you have 8 Bobble Stitches. Fasten off.

With thevariegated yarn (D) make a standing dc (or ch3) in the space between the first 2 Bobbles, follows by 2dc in the same space.

*3 dc in next space. Repeat from * until you have 7 clusters. Ch1. Turn.

3 dc in first space. Repeat = 6 clusters.

Repeat for each row until you have a row with 3 clusters.

Ch 1. Turn. 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc in first space. 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc in second space. Fasten off.

With your red yarn crochet a ’10 stitch Bobble Stitch’ into the space between the two clusters.

Ch1 in red, continue in green – 12 ch. Slipstitch into the red Ch1 at the base of the green. Fasten off.

The bottom edge is probably a bit ‘roll-y’ ๐Ÿ˜ That’s an easy fix (when blocking is not your thing)

Simply crochet 1 row in crab-stitch across the bottom.

It’s pretty, and takes care of the roll. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Done! ๐Ÿ˜€

What you’re holding now makes a great Dishcloth or Kitchen Deco. If you wanna use it as a potholder or trivet, I would suggest to make two cupcakes and layer them by crocheting them together, or join them with a simple mattress stitch.

What do you think? Will you be making one or two? ๐Ÿ˜ I’d love to hear from you!

Any questions about the pattern? Please don’t hesitate to ask…I’m just a quick message away. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŽ‰Happy ๐ŸŽ‰Friday ๐ŸŽ‰

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•

๐ŸŒปNature ๐Ÿ„ Tales ๐ŸŒฒ

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• Did you come back to see the pictures I promised you yesterday? ๐Ÿ˜Š Cool – let’s take a look ๐Ÿ‘€

1. Fairies and Glitter

When I stepped outside into a glorious cool morning yesterday, I saw ‘Fairy-Glitter’ on the rosebush ๐Ÿ’œ You know that can only mean one thing…I missed the Fairy Party โœจโœจโœจ

๐Ÿ’ซThat reminded me of this lovely poem from Marian May

Golden Glitter

It sparkles on their cheek

The cheeks of the Fairies dear

They are always beautiful

Their cheeks sparkle with glitter

And they are forever happy

They are a lot like my big sister

And they have wings of silk as well

Their hair is curly

And their lips are cherry

Their pretty wings

Flutter in the breeze

And the swirls on them

Are made of golden glitter

Cute, isn’t it?! ๐Ÿ˜

If you love Fairies, you might enjoy this little post from last year called Do you believe in 398.2?

Let me know if you do. ๐Ÿค—

2. Visitors to the backyard

Not only is she amazingly beautiful, she’s also very patient ๐Ÿ˜Š  She waited until I got my camera, snapped a few pictures – then she flew away

Wah! ๐Ÿ˜ณ The sneaky snake in the geraniums

We took her to a nearby creek, and hope to never see her again! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I don’t know if a mushroom is considered a ‘visitor’…probably not. But nevertheless, here is one

…growing out of the side of a flower pot

3. An old tree

This old lady sits in an old cemetery on Ft. Leavenworth, KS. I visited there yesterday

Breathtaking, isn’t she? ๐Ÿ’œ

The reports on her age vary, but most people think that she’s at least 150 – 200 years old.

I hope you enjoyed my ‘Nature Tales’ ๐Ÿ˜Š and stop by again soon.

Until then ๐Ÿ’•

WIP ~ Wednesday – Something Old, Something New…but nothing Blue ๐Ÿ˜

Hello my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’• Thanks for peeking in ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

For this week’s WIP Wednesday I had a nice a list of projects ๐Ÿค“

But – as it happens so often- the best laid out plans are ruined by…well, life. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I spent a lot of time frogging ๐Ÿ˜• and cleaning up flood waters. Ugh

My little store flooded during the night, from Monday into Tuesday. Thankfully it was just rainwater. Two years ago the water came from the side facing the parking lot, so – once the foot of water cleared out- we had about 2″ of sticky mud to deal with. ๐Ÿ˜ซ I had a lot of friends and lovely customers lending a helping hand…that made things much better, easier to deal with. ๐Ÿ˜

Anyway…this time it was only 1″ of water…and no mud! Yay! ๐Ÿ˜€ Again…wonderful friends helped, and now we’re waiting for the rugs to dry out back. Until then everything inside is topsy-turvy and still a bit damp.

Okay…now let’s talk (and look at) wip projects – ’cause that’s why you’re here ๐Ÿ˜Š

1. The Granny Square Cardigan

I decided I wanna re-do the sleeves. Right now they’re too tight and stiff – they don’t really go with the flow of the cardigan. I should get to that asap, since it looks like I’m gonna need it soon. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ

2. The Poncho

That’s turning into the never-ending project ๐Ÿ˜• I still have to attach most of the fringe. Again…time is of the essence. If I don’t finish this thing soon, it’ll never get done. It’s been waaay too long already.

3. The ‘Cupcake’ Something ๐Ÿ˜œ

This turned into the problem child of the week. You wouldn’t think so, because it’s so small, but this thing kept me occupied all weekend ๐Ÿ˜ซ I should’ve just frogged it, and forget about it…but I had to make it work! Do you know that feeling?

It started with an idea, didn’t seem too hard. A delicious cupcake, a nice background to be used as kitchen-Deco, or – with cotton yarn, a dishcloth or potholder (layered).

So I picked the yarn, and went to work. Tunesian stitch…one of my favorites ๐Ÿ˜€

Bing..bang..boom – done! Or so I thought…when I pinned it to block it…I was like ‘oh, no, no, no, no’ ๐Ÿ˜ณ

It probably has something to do with recent events, but I knew I would not want it like this in my house. ๐Ÿ˜”

So – frogging. First only the ‘icing’ and the turquoise top-half. I redid the ‘icing’, without a background, that looked weird, so I played with that….not great

  Pfffft ๐Ÿ˜–
I was tired of frogging, so I started over. Still more trial and error than it’s worth. The edges didn’t cooperate, the angles were all wrong….but I think I got it now.

I might make another one, ’cause I do really like it and it’s really not that hard ๐Ÿ˜œ…I’ll write it down and share it with you.

4. The Blanket

One more thing – real quick ๐Ÿค“

I want to make a blanket for the colder months ahead. I picked a supercute pattern, pretty yarn, and started (between ‘Cupcake’ disasters) ๐Ÿ˜

  Cute, right? ๐Ÿ’œ
It’s a simple pattern, a bit time consuming because the rows of the triangles involved are stitched separately. Yep…one by one. Lots of ends to weave in. ๐Ÿ˜‰ After that, the border is just Granny Square stitches all around. Let’s just say, a ‘ch1’, between dc clusters would not be a waste of time or yarn. ๐Ÿ˜• The thing was all wavy, not even blocking could safe it. So…you guessed it – more frogging. I tried to take the triangles off in one piece, because, hey, that was a lot of work. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I kept the middle square, and now I’ll make a Patchwork Blanket with various yarns. I’m working on some ‘Magic Yarnballs’ to bring in some crazy patches.

So…that was my week ๐Ÿ˜ I trust that yours was better! ๐Ÿค—

I hope I wasn’t too whine-y. โ˜บ๏ธ Let’s raise our glasses and drink to a more successful tomorrow ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅ‚

Do you have stories of never-ending crochet disasters? Let’s hear them! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now it’s almost bedtime โ˜บ๏ธ I’ll be back tomorrow with some pretty pictures (hint ~ fairies and glitter, and trees, and a little surprise….I hope you’re ready ๐Ÿ˜)

Until then ๐Ÿ’•
