Small  ~ Project ~ Sunday 🌺 Cute coasters 🍺

Hello my lovely friends 💕 Welcome back!

It’s a lazy Sunday 🤓 And this morning’s forecast was right…

‘Cause that’s what I’ve been doing! 😊 I’ve made some cute coasters, and I’ll show you how you can whip up some yourself in an afternoon. 😃

I’ve used a different type yarn for each one – I can’t see a difference. I used a crochet hook    Size H/5mm.

In case you’re interested:

Purple = Caron, 1 pound ; Yellow = Red Heart ; Green = Peaches and Creme

I’ve made “Smoothies” and a “Beerglass”. The basic form is the same.

Ch 18, and work 32 rows in the ‘Tunesian Stitch’ 💥 If you need a little reminder how to work that one …just click here for the how-to 🤓

The Beer – Glass 🍺

Connect your border yarn to the top right corner of your rectangle.  Ch 2, hdc across the top to the top left corner.  Ch1, slipstitch into the first stitch of the longer side. Slipstitch your way down, working into the top loop only. At the bottom left corner, ch 1, hdc into the first space. Hdc across. At the corner, hdc into last space, ch1, slipstitch into the same space. Ch 1. Continue with the slipstitch to the last loop (first stitch of the top row). Ch 2. Hdc in same space.

If you’re doing the ‘Smoothie’ coaster – ch1. Hdc across, working the spaces between the dc, not the top loops. Fasten off.

For the “Beerglass” you’ll now crochet ….

The “Foam” :

Skip 3 stitches, *5dc – 1 ch – 5 dc in 4th stitch (shell)* . Skip 3 st, 1sc, Skip 3 st, repeat from * to *; Sc in last stitch.  Ch 1. Turn. 7 slipstitch on each dc of previous row. 5 treble crochet in sc of previous row. Skip 3dc, slipstitch in each following dc. End row with 1 slipstitch.

The “Handle”:
The handle is a continuation of the ‘foam’.

Ch 20. Count 5 stitches from the bottom and connect with a slipstitch in the 6th. Work 1set of ‘Tunesian Stitch’. Slipstitch to the coaster-border. Fasten off, block.

They do wanna curl a bit…so it’s best to get them wet, wet 😬 and block overnight – and don’t forget the ScotchGuard! 😝

What do you think? Will you be making some? I think they’ll be a cute surprise at the next cookout – maybe even a take-home gift?! 😎

I’m working on Part II of the ‘Crochet Along’ and try my best to present it to you tomorrow 😍

Until then 💕

I’m not affiliated with any product mentioned here!

Your Weekend ~ Chuckle 😄

🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼

I love these…. 😁

Let’s see what “I will tonight….”

Tonight I will have to admit that I love the fact that I can hardly wait until the next time you get to see what I did to your mind 😂😂😂 Oh wow 😝

That’s a bit weird and freaky, huh? 🙃

💥Don’t forget to tell us your plans for tonight in the comments 😬 I’m so looking forward to it!

I hope you had a little fun 😄 Thanks for visiting 💜

I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun little project for ‘New Stitch Sunday’ 😊 and hope you will too.

Until then 💕

And So it Begins ~ ‘Bohemian Oasis’  – A Boho Crochet-Along 💜

Hello my lovely friends  💕 Are you ready for a new Crochet-Along? 😊 I’m so excited, and hope that you’ll have fun! 😃

Since it’s not a ‘Mystery CAL’ I can tell you…we’re making a cozy blanket. An oasis for your living room – something to snuggle under in the colder months to come. It’s hard to imagine right now that I ever want to sit under a blanket, but it’s coming! 😉

I will give you a few tips on how to change it into a shawl, a larger blanket, or even a Wallhanging. 😁

But now…without further ado….here’s Part 1

(Please be patient with me 😊 this is my very first (own) crochet along…so if I stumble a bit, or am not clear on anything – give me a nudge 🤗 I think together we can make this a fabulous experience 💜)

It’s actually 32″ wide but in the full picture you couldn’t see the detail. 😁

There was a lot of trial and error…translation – frogging 😄 But I ironed out the problems, and so far I’m pretty happy with it.

So today I’m going to show you how to crochet the ‘Flower Grannies’. They are your foundation.

There are 5, for a total width of 32″ (including the connection crochet) We’ll work a 3″ border around everything at the end for a total of 38″.

If you want to make a larger blanket just add more squares. I picked stitches that work with any number of foundation stitches. 🤓

But first…the ‘Flower Granny’

Abbreviations:

htc = half treble crochet

tc = treble crochet

dc2tog = yo, insert hook in designated stitch, pull yarn through, yo, through 2 loops. Yo, insert hook into same stitch, pull through. Yo, pull through 2loops, yo, pull through remaining 3 loops.

1. Start with a Magic Ring. Ch3, yo, dc in the base of the chain. *Yo, dc2tog, ch1, dc2tog . Repeat from *four times = 6 petals. Fasten off

*Yo, dc2tog, ch1, dc2tog . Repeat from *four times = 6 petals. Close ring with a slipstitch. Fasten off

2. Connect your second color. Ch 3, dc in ch1 space at the base of the chain. Ch1, dc2tog in same space. Ch1. Work *dc2tog, ch1, dc2tog groups in each ch1 space.

I marked the placements with pins

Connect with a slipstitch.

3. Ch3, turn your work around, 2dc into space at the base of the chain. Ch 1. *Work 3dc into every ch1 space of the previous row

= 12 groups of 3. Connect with a slipstitch. Fasten off.

4. Connect your third color. Ch3, 2dc in space at the base of your chain. Ch 1, 3 dc into next ch1 space. Ch1 – now you’ll work the corner. 2 htr, 1tc, ch3, 1 tc, 2 hdc. *Ch1, 3dc in next ch1 space. Ch1, 3dc in next ch1 space. Ch1, crochet the corner. Repeat from *. End with a corner. Connect with a slipstitch, and fasten off.

Done! 😍 Isn’t that a nice weekend project?

Then you want to connect them 😀 I picked this join stitch because it goes perfect with anything Granny Square, plus it aids in keeping the project ‘flowy’ 😌

I posted a tutorial for this join stitch a few weeks ago…you can find it here 🙂

I honestly hope you like the project I picked for us 🤗 Please holler if you have any questions or concerns! I’m always just a quick message away 😘

Let me know what you think about this project! Will you join in? 💜 That would be pretty awesome!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a few ‘Weekend Chuckles’…I did find some good ones! 😂😂😂

Until then 💕

My Crochet~Alongs – Past and Future 🔮

Hello my lovely friends 💕 How wonderful to see you!

Soooooo…..this just happened

 No worries…it was intentional 😁

It’s the result of me giving up on the ‘Crochet Along’ I started last week. It was just too boring😴 I didn’t feel inspired at all…every time I looked at it and contemplated doing a few rounds…I found something else to do. 😕 I had a few talks with myself…not out loud – at least I don’t think so 😜 ….trying to convince myself that it’s the first CAL for me, that maybe my expectations were too high.

So I set it aside – in a different room…that should’ve told me something 😏 – saying ‘it’s too hot to be sitting under a ever growing blanket. A-huh ~ sure! That’s what it is.

Now I’m curious….did you ever get all excited about a project only to realize that it’s not that great? Did you abandon it for ‘greener pastures’ or did you power through? 🙂

What brought me to the ‘official’ abandonment of this project was yesterday’s post from Robin from Imperial Crochet – and seeing that she had the same problem. That’s when I finally admitted that this CAL is not going to happen for me.

Life is too short to be bored by a project 😊 weaving in ends is bad enough 🙄

But three positives came out of this experience 😀

1. I now know how to do the Tapestry Stitch

2. I have 2 pounds of pretty yarn in pretty colors to make something lovely with

3. This is where we come to the ‘CAL future’ mentioned in the title! I’m now inspired to hold my own Crochet Along…built from the expectations I had for the failed one. 🤓

I have a lot of ideas, and already started on it 😃 It’s gonna be a wild one, because this wee one made an appearance and it looks like she’s here to stay 💜

I plan to post more about my CAL very soon 😍 I’m really excited and ready to rumble! 😅

Thanks so much for visiting and reading all the great way down to here 🤗

I hope you will join me tomorrow for ‘Work ~ in ~ Progress Wednesday’ 🌺

Until then 💕

New ~ Stitch ~ Sunday ☀️ Adorable Hydrangeas

Hello my lovely friends 💕 Welcome back!

Since quite a few of you loved the ‘Hydrangea Purse’ in the making I decided apply the title loosely and make today’s post less about a new stitch, but a cute flower instead. 🤓

If you look really hard you’ll find a new stitch – if you wanna call it that – a Picot 🔺 <—– yeah, something like that 😏

Now to the flower 😊 You’re probably tapping your foot by now 😉

Here it is

     Cute, eh? 😊
And really a fast and easy project. 💕

But first – these are the things you need to know (besides the basic sc and ch)

hdc – yo, insert hook into designated stitch, pull yarn through. Yo, pull yarn through all 3 loops

dc -yo, insert hook into designated stitch, pull yarn through. Yo, pull yarn through 2 loops twice

htr- yo twice, insert hook into designated stitch, pull yarn through (5 loops). Yo, pull yarn through 2 loops, yo, pull yarn through 3 loops

Picot – Ch 3, slipstitch into base of chain

Magic Ring – wrap yarn around your finger twice, insert hook into the ring, pull yarn through, chain 1 (you want to hold the ‘ring’ and the tail between thumb and forefinger 😉)

Okay….now really The Flower 😁

1. Make a ‘Magic Ring’, and crochet 8 sc into it (twice the amount of desired petals); hold the row of sc, and pull the yarntail. Cool, huh? 😋 Close circle with a slipstitch into the first slipstitch.

And now you know why it’s called a ‘Magic Ring’ 😀

2. Place *a hdc into the space under the hook. Now into the same space 1 dc, 1 htr, Picot, 1 htr, 1 dc, 1 hdc. Slipstitch into the next stitch*.

Move to the next stitch and repeat * to * 3 times.

And your flower is done! 😀

The bead is optional, but I think it’s a nice touch 😍

I’ve already made a few more for my purse project 🤓

As soon as it’s done I’ll share the creative process with you – that will hopefully be very soon 😏

As usual on a Sunday I lolligagged a bit – so now it’s dinner time already! 😳 It’s soooo hot here these days that I’m running out of ideas for ‘Hot Weather Dishes’ really fast. 🤔 Oh well, we’ll find something 😂

Thanks for stopping by 😍 As usual…if you have any questions, need to clarify something in the instructions ~ just holler!

I shall be back sometime this week – probably tomorrow or Tuesday. 😘

Until then 💕

Your Weekend Chuckle 😄 and a (so called) ‘Friendship Test’ 💜

Hello my lovely friends  💕  Thanks for taking a moment to stop in!

First something for my fellow crocheters and knitters 😊

Here are my answers:

1. Dogs 😊 I have two spoiled darlings 💜

2. Burgers 🍔 HotDogs scare me 😳

Until then  💕

My First Crochet ~Along…and a BIG ‘Duh’ Moment 🤦‍♂️

Hello my lovely friends  💕 Wonderful to see you!

Last week I signed up for my first crochet ~along. 😁 It was announced on the ‘Yarnspiration’ Facebook page, in collaboration with the ‘Crochet Crowd’.

Since I’ve been wanting to do one for quite some time now, and Mikey from the Crochet Crowd is always a great source of inspiration (and, hey – I got to buy more yarn 😜) I signed up, went and ordered my yarn….giggles…..and waited. 😕 Not my greatest talent – but I made it. 😋

The first part of the instructions arrived – via e-mail- on Monday, together with the reveal of the project picture

I like the look of that! 😍

The yarn didn’t get here ’til Tuesday evening 🙄 so I had to wait until yesterday (Wednesday) to finally start my blanket.

But first – decision time. Which colors to use? See, when I ordered the yarn I couldn’t really decide. I knew I wanted purple and lime green. Well, guess what? No lime green 😕 I didn’t like the sage…so I went with turquoise and apricot/orange. Close enough! 😂

The pairing of the skeins

   That’s nice 😊   That’s ok too 🙂

  Yep…that’s it 😀
I looked over the instructions

Glanced at the note, 1st, 2nd, 3rd round….got it! Or so I thought! 😜

Now we’re coming to my big ‘Duh’ moment. See ☝️in the note where it says “carry color not in use loosely across the top of previous row” and see how the sentence continues?! Well, apparently a glance at ‘notes’ in instructions is not advisable! 😸 Since I stopped glancing right at “previous row”, I did not really know how to accomplish the carrying of the color. And apparently a severe brainfog prevented me from figuring it out all by myself. 🤦‍♂️

And that’s how I ended up with this

You can see exactly where and when I took a closer look at the directions 😂

But since it’s just for me I didn’t frog it. 😋 The other side is perfectly fine

I still love my colors. 😍 What do you think of it/them?

Are you inspired? If you are…here’s the link to the pattern. 😁

Thanks for visiting today 😍  I hope you don’t think any less of me now! 🤗

I’m looking forward to hearing from you…tell me what you’re thinking 😎

Take good care of yourself 💕

Work~in~Progress Wednesday 🌺 A Pinwheel, Hydrangeas, and two scarves

Hello my lovely friends 💕 It’s always fabulous to see you here!

I have a few projects on various hooks these days 😎

If you saw yesterday’s post you already know a little bit about the Hydrangea blossoms, and how a little spark of an idea, a hook and some yarn turned into these…

Part of the idea was to turn them – and many more like it – into a Boho purse. Yesterday I wasn’t sure how to accomplish that. —-> see yesterday’s post for the ways I considered. 😊

Well, now I’m one step closer – this is how it’s gonna be

I’ll sew them onto a felted wool-sweater, and add a handle

What do you think? Looks like it’s gonna be fabulous, doesn’t it? 🤓

🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼

It’s a bit difficult to think of scarfs and wraps right now – but nevertheless, I persisted! 😋

I have two to show ya….

1.

Inspired by my ‘New Stitch Sunday’ post 😍

2.

And this one is pretty much done….I just have to secure the “yarn tails”.  😕

I love how this one turned out. The cool thing is, it kinda designed itself while I was crocheting. Every time I got to the end of a segment, I remembered a certain yarn from my stash….and wouldn’t you know it – it was always the perfect one. 😃

💜 See little Eddie hanging out under the couch? Right in the path of the AC flow. Smart dog! 😍

🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼🌸🌼🌺🌼

Speaking of Yarn-Tails. Don’t you hate the dreaded little things that always seem to double the time it takes to finish a project! 😣

The stack of Flower-Squares is growing….maybe I should sew in some tails now…before I make more?! When do you deal with them? As you go or at the end?

🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺

And then….the “Yarnspiration” Crochet Along 😍 I started that this morning, so there’s not much to show you yet

It’ll be a ‘Pinwheel Blanket’ – so far I’m pretty happy with it. 😀

I’d like to tell you more about it….the difficult color choice 😉 my ‘brain fart’ moment 😂            How about we do that tomorrow? And then we can also look at the pattern together! 🤗

Alrighty! It’s a date! 💃🏻

As always I’m looking forward to chatting with you! 💜 Tag…you’re it! 😁

Thanks for visiting! I’ll see ya tomorrow!

Until then 💕

A Beautiful Combo ~ Crochet & Flowers 💜

Hello my lovely friends 💕 Good to see you! 😃

I started a new project…yeah, I know – too many hooks occupied already around this house 😝 But what’s one more, right?! 🤓

Plus, I have a pretty good excuse. I had to at least start it before the picture in my mind is lost forever. ☺️ See, this morning, while watering my hydrangeas – that took a while…they’re very thirsty these days because of the heatwave 🌞 – so as I stood there admiring the pretty flowers, the picture of a cute boho purse popped into my head. How delightful would that be? 😍

I started immediately…playing with various size hooks, different stitches, and came up with these

They do look somewhat like Hydrangeas, don’t you think? There will be 3, 4, 5 petal blossoms – just like on the real-live plant. 🙂

Now I’m trying to figure out how to connect them…

Crochet didn’t look right. Nope, no pictures – it really wasn’t great. 😕

I tried sewing them together….which would work, but they’re too close together – so you can’t see where one flower ends and the other one begins. 🤔

Wait…now I have an idea! Maybe I’ll do a multicolored bed of Hydrangeas! Hmmm – let me think on that. I’ll let you know. 😊

So far the prettiest solution seems to be needlefelting. Can you see a piece of green woolen material as the background? Have to try it!

I only have grey or red right now…but let’s see

What do you think? Needlefelted, with a bit of the background showing? That might work! 😃

Thanks for visiting and showing interest in this little project! 🤗 I’ll keep you posted.

Tomorrow is WiP Wednesday – I hope you’ll be back so I can show you all the other projects. 😋

Until then 💕
