New~Stitch~Sunday πŸ€“ Harlequin and something usefulΒ

Hello my lovely friends πŸ’• Thanks for peeking in!

Today -as promised- I’m showing you how to stitch the ‘Harlequin Stitch‘. At first it seems a bit complicated, but you’ll get the hang of it fast…no doubt πŸ˜€

Ready? Here we go….

The foundation chain needs to be multiples of 8 sts plus 1.

Row 1
Using color 1, *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in 5th ch from hook [or 5th st from hook],

skip next 3 ch/sts, sc in next ch/st, skip next 3 ch/sts.* Repeat to end.

Join color 2 and turn.

Row 2

Ch 3, skip 1st sc, dc3tog over next 3 dc, *ch 7, skip ch-1 space, dc6tog over next 6 dc (leaving the sc between groups unworked). *

repeat to last 3 dc and work 3dctog, dc in ch-1 and turn.

Row 3

Ch 3, skip 1st dc, 3 dc in top of 3dctog, *sc in ch-1 space between dc’s 1 row below (enclosing center of ch-7), (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in top of dc6tog.*  Repeat to last dc3tog and make 3 dc in top of dc3tog, dc in top of ch-3, join colour 1, and turn.

Make sure you pull the yarn from behind the work to enclose the ch-7

Row 4

Ch 4, skip 1st dc, *dc6tog over next 6 dc [leaving the sc between groups unworked], ch 7, skip ch-1 space.* Repeat to end, ch 3, dc in top of ch-3, turn.

Row 5

Ch 2,  *3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in ‘dc6 tog’, sc in ch-1 space between dcs 1 row below (enclosing center of ch-7)* Repeat to last 3 dc-ch1, 3 dc , sc in base of ch-3

Repeat rows 2 to 5 until you reached your desired length. 😊

Pretty, isn’t it? πŸ˜€

Any questions? Please don’t hesitate to ask! 😍

Now we get to something useful…the invisible decrease πŸ™‚

Yes, there really is such a thing πŸ˜‹ See….well you can’t really since it’s invisible, but you know what I mean πŸ˜‰

Just crochet to the place in your work where you need the decrease then (for dc)

yarn over, pick up the top of the next two stitches, pull yarn through 2 loops at a time. Done! 😁

How nifty is this? 😁 Can you spot it? It’s there – I swear! πŸ™‚

Well, that’s it for today! Will you work with any of these stitches?

I hope you find these tutorials helpful, and remember…. I am always ready to help with any problems/questions! πŸ€—

Next Sunday I’ll show you ‘Catherine’s Wheel’ – that’s a variation of the Harlequin Stitch.

But that’s a week away, and I have some pretty good stuff planned for the rest of this week! I hope you’ll stop by to see. πŸ˜„

Until then

Tina xoxo
